My guess here is you did something wrong in your frugal install. Where have you installed it? You seem to have at least 7 partitions on your hd. How did you install it? Did you run grub4dos and let it search for the new Puppy install? It did not find one, which is unusual if there is one. Grub4dos ...

How do I uninstall Grub4DOS?

I am installing Precise Puppy on an old HP laptop. I went through the steps of installing Puppy to the hard drive in hopes that I could boot without the Live CD in the optical drive. When I did so, I received that Invalid Partition Table error message. Thinking I could somehow fix this with Grub4DOS...

How do I install...[SOLVED]

My sincere thanks to all who replied. I am still somewhat new to all this. Apparently I had downloaded the incorrect package (PET) and when I downloaded the SFS package found here I was given the option to install automatically.

In any event, I am now using release 5.2.3.3.

Thanks again.

How do I install the newest version of LibreOffice?

I’m running Tahrpup64-6.0.5 I got tired of seeing the notice that an update for LibreOffice is available so I downloaded and extracted LibreOffice_5.2.3_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz. Is that the correct package? I don’t see this as an option to install in the Puppy Package Manager. Is there a way to navi...

Where did you find version 0.9.2? I can only see 0.7.2 in the PPM.

mp3splt-gtk-0.9.tar.gz extracted...now what?

Using tahrpup64 version 6.0.5. I want to try mp3splt as an alternative to Audacity and I was able to download it from Sourceforge and extract the contents (see image) but I'm not sure what to do from this point. I searched through the directories for something that looks like an executable and didn'...

Oh boy. I thought I should probably stay in the newbie forum but anyway, here's what I found in system information:

Linux Kernel: 3.14.54 (x86_64)
Version: #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Dec 1 17:54:26 GMT 2015

Distro: tahrpup64 6.0.5
Window Manager: JWM v2.3.4
Desktop Start: xwin jwm

Is that helpful?

Google Chrome opens, minimizes and freezes

On occasion, especially after I have opened and closed Google Chrome, I will re-launch it, and it minimizes to the taskbar. I can right-click, left-click, double-click and nothing happens. I simply have to power down. I have only noticed this when I have previously opened and closed Chrome. I'm usin...

That's good news, but where did you find the file? It doesn't sound like you actually installed the PET. That's entirely possible since I am somewhat of a Puppy Linux newbie and still learning the mechanics. The file was in several locations, but I copied it from /downloads/samsung_print_scan_64bit...

Well, I may not have done this correctly, but I found the rastertospl file using pFind and copied it into /usr/lib/cups/filter/ and now the printer is working!

rcrsn51 wrote:After you downloaded the PET, did you click on it to install it?

yes

Your original problem was the missing file /usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertospl. After installing the PET can you now find it?

no, it is not there

Test your printer.
Result attached.

Same result. I am either attempting to install a driver that I failed to download correctly or I can't find it. I downloaded the PET file but from this point where do I look for the driver?

What kind of install are you doing - full or frugal? hard drive or USB? Full install to the HDD. Is this a clean install as recommended? No The message claims that the file /usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertospl is missing. If you are using Tahrpup64 (the one with the lake scene as wallpaper) and you ins...

Your reply got me thinking about the driver which I hadn't even considered. I looked in the Samsung website and found a Linux driver: uld_v1.00.36_00.91.tar.gz which I downloaded. I proceeded to extract all files, looked for the ppd file and found two: Samsung_4623FW_series.ppd and Samsung_4623_seri...
