Installing Puppy 4.3 on IBM Thinkpad A31

I am not much of a techie, a fairly new Puppy user so please make your reply easy to follow. I have an IBM Thinkpad A31 laptop, 2652 j3u, P4 1.6M, 512 PC2700 DDR ram, ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 currently running XP PRO SP3. I want to install Puppy 4.3 as the sole OS on this laptop. Will Puppy format m...

Thanks Tubby. When I get a chance I'll try to get that version. I am currently running Puppy 2.0, with Firefox 2.0.0.20, it seems to be the only version that works flawlessly for me so I think I will stick with it. I am not a techie, so I have neither the expertise nor the time to tinker with new te...

Thanks vance.waylon. Java was 1.6 update 11, not sure which flash, just what came with Browserpuppy. No problems with my current setup, Puppy 2.0, Firefox 2.0.0.20. I think I will just stick with that, works great, haven't the time to experiment, just thought there might be a simple fix. Thanks, Ken.

Firefox 3.5 Keeps Closing

I just got Browser Puppy 4.9 (live cd on a P3 600, 256 megs, dsl internet). I took the opportunity to install Java 1.6.0 Update 11 before running/configuring Firefox 3.5. All was working well but without reason, when I either click on a link or an "OK" button or whatever, no specific actio...

No Lexmark P915 printer driver for Puppy 2.0?

There appears to be no driver (even linuxprinting.org) for the Lexmark P915 printer that is available for either Puppy 2.0 or even 4.1. Will there ever be such a driver, it is the only thing missing, for me, from an otherwise excellent Puppy OS. Thanks.

Lexmark P915 Setup on Puppy 4.1.1

I am trying to configure a Lexmark P915 printer on Puppy 4.1.1, however, there is no listing for this printer in Puppy, also no listing at linuxprinting.org. As a Puppy newbie, a non-techie, how can I configure (point by point) this printer for Puppy 4.1.1. Is there some sort of generic configuratio...

I am having other problems with Puppy 4.1 which I can't go into now, so I am just going to continue using 2.0 which works very well. As a non-techie, a Puppy newbie, I have no patience when things are not working properly, so I am just going to stick with what I know, what works well. Thanks.

Puppy 4.1 Printing Too Small

I have just successfully configured my Canon BJC1000 printer on Puppy 4.1 but when I try to print a test note from AbiWord in Nimbus Roman Font Size 14, the letters are so small, I can barely see them. I never had this problem in Puppy 2.0. Even if I use a larger font size, the letters are still ver...

Thanks MU. Went to the link you gave me, install the 3 files, works great, now I can stick with Puppy 2.0 for the reasons in my original note. Also, how can I increase the size of the Pup_Save.3fs file? Remember I am a Puppy/Linux newbie so please make your reply easy to follow. Thanks again. Ken.

Using PET Package Manager in Puppy 2.0

Is there anyway to use the Pet Package Manager, PETget, from Puppy 3.01 in Puppy 2.0 either on its own or installing it into the Puppy 2.0 live cd? I am a Linux newbie, a non-techie, so please make your reply easy to follow. Thanks. I first saw PETget while trying the Puppy 3.01 live cd, installs pr...

Thanks Disciple. Your fix works perfectly. I am a Firefox 2.0.0.8 user, so I uninstalled the default browser, Opera, also took out the link from the "Menu", "Internet" section the same way. Now everything looks right. I also put a shortcut to the .jwmrc file on my desktop so I ca...

As a non techie newbie to Puppy 2.0, I am actually having some success installing .Pup software by just clicking on the program, letting PupGet install/uninstall when necessary. To my relief the programs show up when I click "Menu", then scroll to the "dotPups" category at the to...

Newly Installed Programs Won't Work in Puppy 2.0

I am using Puppy 2.0 live cd. I just got a number of programs with ".pup" extensions. They installed easily just by clicking on the program icon in the root/my applications folder. I re-started Puppy, but none of the programs run when I click on the program icon (eg pinball, xgammon, amsn)...

Thanks Sir Duncan. In the Puppy 2.0 I am using, the PetGet feature is not there. Great suggestion about automatically installing a previous version of Firefox then letting the "update" feature in Firefox accomplish a current update for me. I use Firefox 2.0.0.7 in my Win98SE configuration,...
