Using Docker to play Magic: The Gathering Online
Hi everyone! I used to use Puppy back in the old days, and have returned after seeing an announcement on DistroWatch about 8.0. I absolutely love it, as it's making my 10 year old PC run like new again. I've been a bit of a Distro hopper, but one of the things I always do when changing distros is to...

Re: Speed is not the only consideration
Puppy Linux was first developed to run from a CD. All versions run as Administrator (root) with the privilege to access any drive/partition and file: to modify them and delete them. On bootup a Frugal install copies some files from "storage" into RAM and creates inodes (pointers) to the r...

Ian, I've got PupEee 1.0 (which apparently is based on Puppy 4.31) on a full install of my 4GB EeePC. As for my internet connection, it's a Wireless Network connection to my home router, which I initially setup via Pwireless2. When I shutdown, regardless of whether I have the internet connection tur...

Getting Wireless to stay on [Solved]
Hi everyone, First of all, I'm a returning user. I used Puppy around the end of the 2.x days, and loved the experience, but then moved onto several other Linuxes before settling at Ubuntu on my main PC (why I was compelled to do that, I'll never know...). I've owned a EeePC for about three years now...

Nero for Linux isn't free (You can buy it for 19..99 Euros for a downloadable version). You can download a trial version from the site. There's also no guarantees it'll work on puppy, as below: Supported Distributions* * Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 * SuSE Linux 10.0 * Fedora 4 * Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 ...

Skype dotpet doesn't work in Puppy 3?
I've tried to download Skype using the Install program, and Puppy tells me this: The skype-1.1.0.20 package has been downloaded to /root/.packages, however there is not enough room to uncompress and install it. The free space is 25192 blocks but it is estimated you will need 37299 blocks temporarily...

I've just upgraded to 3.00 via 2,17, and everything looks fantastic.
Just a slight problem with adding packages which I think I won't be able to solve until I get my hands on a blank CD (see here), but apart from that, a good job by everyone!
Woof Woof!

I was initally a curious Linux user, having seen a cheap copy of RedHat 9 for Dummies in a bookstore. I tried it out on a old laptop I had lying around, and was impressed enough to loosen my grip on Microsoft's dominance, and had been looking for a windoze free solution ever since. Since then, I've ...

Short Answer: Day-to-Day OS Long Answer: It's my day-to-day OS now. I hardly ever use windows (only to upload music to my MP3 Player now, because of the fact I only have one USB port at the front of my PC). I've been trying to find a windows-free solution ever since I came across a second hand copy...

When I've tried to copy the files over to my USB stick, I've noticed two of the files have different numbers in the names than what's in the release notes: For USB or frugal-hd installations, just copy the latest files (vmlinuz, initrd.gz, pup_300.sfs and zdrv_300.sfs) to the USB or hd boot media. T...

Whenever you join something online (like the yahoo! Group for example), you come across those boxes where there's a jumbled up word, and you have to type it in the box next to that to prove you're not a spammer. I type the word in fine, press Submit, and it returns me to the form everytime, with a n...
