Solution found for Seamonkey Gmail inbox problem
I seem to have found a work-around for this problem. I logged in to Gmail and went to the settings - pop/forwarding area. I then altered the main option to only download messages received from now on (radio button). I then went back to the Seamonkey mail client and deleted all of the messages that i...

Seamonkey mail client won't show email from Gmail
Seamonkey is basically quite nice in Puppy2 Alpha - but I seem to have a problem with downloading POP3 emails from my Gmail Inbox. It stubbornly refuses to download unread messages from the Gmail Inbox. Behaviour seems to alter if Gmail settings are tampered around with but latest unread messages ar...

Puupy2 Alpha : so far so good
Some words of encouragement to keep you going during this arduous but very worthwhile undertaking Barry. I've been using Puppy2 Alpha for a few days now. Looking very good so-far. Running on: 400Mz AMD 128MB RAM 500MB Linux swap partition SiS Chipset I'm getting a good speed improvement in loading e...

In p2 (Puppy2) I like sylpheed but in practical day to day usage usually end up using gmail When using Puppy I seem to end up using Gmail over the web simply because it is so much faster. Yes, Seamonkey is a great program but I find it just too slow on my old 64MB RAM PC running Puppy2Alpha. This h...

Is underdog in Puppy2 alpha?
I wonder if underdog has been implemented in Puppy2 Alpha.
I have created a plain text file called underdog.lnx containing the text "hda2" on which a KDE version of Vector Linux resides, but no joy from any KDE appliation e.g. Konqueror.
Am I missing out anything here?
Thanks
Tronkel

A few minor problems
Just booted up Puppy2 Alpha on my old 64MB RAM 300MHz Cyrix. Basically it runs very well on this - maybe even better than 1.07 did. Alsa is very good too. A few probs: XORG setup wizard ran OK for initial configuration but somehow then lost the ability to start X directly from boot-up. Typing XWIN a...

Re: Puupy 2
I never thought of it like that. I've got Gigabytes to play with. Okay, what I might do is write a pup001-to-pup_save.3fs converter. That will get rid of all the anxiety about the upgrade. Or what about a menu item within Puppy 2 that can display a file listing of say the /root folder of PUP001 (if ...

Puupy 2
It's amusing to think of all these poor people (like me!) worldwide who have only got small storage and don't want ro lose their PUP001 file. They must all be fiddling around trying to make space on their hard disks for the new persistant storage file in Puppy2 so they can still keep PUP001 as well....

I'm lookiing at the C code in the usage.proc. c source file . Look at this: get_usage_all (void) { int fd; static char buf[2048]; char *pos; if ((fd = open("/proc/net/dev", O_RDONLY)) == -1) { perror ("opening /proc/net/dev"); exit(1); } memset (buf, 0, sizeof(buf)); if (read (fd...

Puppt 1.07 and Olympus fe-100 digital camera
Hi, i'm trying to get my Olympus FE-100 camera to work with Puppy 1.07. If I connect the camera to a usb port, the camera is not recognised by Puppy and the camera will not respond to this request to connect. Is this maybe a missing library and is using gtkam an appropriate solution here? Thanks, tro...

Merry Xmas, 1.07 beta
Merry Xmas to Barry and to all the contributors whose work has made the Puppy what it is now. All other operating systems have now been deprecated in my computing domain! I wonder how long it will be before Puppy appears as original equipment as part of a new PC. I had a minor spot of bother with a ...

How can I run Puppy over Zenwalk (Slackware)?
I just installed Zenwalk, a new Slackware based distro (very efficient by the way - I can recommend it) and am trying to run Puppy 1.05 as a live CD over this. The hard disk was formatted as reiserfs4 when I installed Zenwalk but Puppy cannot see this partition and complains that it needs an ext2 pa...
