Ah, you're a savior!
Yeah, Dingo was grabbing the various .sfs files scattered in my disk drives.
I thought Puppy was designed to look for pupsaves and not just any plain .sfs file that was lying around. I'm guessing Barry changed something? I could be wrong.
Thank you x 100.

I don't think you get it. pfix=ram works if I have saved sessions. But that's irrelevant to my cause. If this is a newly burned image of Puppy Linux on a CD, then I should not be getting any of these desktop alterations. I shouldn't have any saved sessions. I shouldn't have to use the pfix=ram comma...

Fresh CD boots with old desktop
SOLVED: As usual, I'm an idiot. Solution: Delete scattered .sfs files within HDDs. ================================ ================================ Alright, so here is this weird issue, which seems totally illogical. I've got this CD that I am absolutely sure that I have blanked three times over. ...

What launches xorgwizard during frugal bootup?
Distro: Puppy Linux 4.0 (Dingo )
Situation: Live-RAM (frugal)
I want to kill the file that launches xorgwizard during bootup. I plan on using a grep command instead to determine the video device and load the xorg.conf file.

Interesting note, in case anyone else is getting this bug. Ok, here's the deal. I think it's crashing because I'm not installing it during the rc.local boot. I'm installing it while in the Xserver. I decided to bite the bullet and allow rc.local to activate a script to install it during bootup incas...

NEW PROBLEM: I was reading the changelog for the enhanced ctorrent program. It appears some of the bugs could be serious. So, I decided to install the dotpets. However, I'm running on frugal, and I really don't feel like remastering the frugal everytime I apply updates like this. Do you think the b...

It appears I had a corrupted .sfs file. I don't think is the first time I've received such a problem from ibiblio. I think I remember this happening in the past, too. Very odd. I troubleshooted everything a second time. Anyway, it appears to be working. But if something crashes, then I'll be thinkin...

devx_400.sfs keeps crashing my computer
Why is it crashing my computer? How can I get it to work successfully? I have 976 MB available RAM at the moment. I think that is enough for the devx_400.sfs, right? Situation: 1. Running in RAM 2. Booted from USB Flash drive 3. Computer has 2 GB of RAM 4. Using Puppy Linux Dingo. 5. Installing devx...

devx_400.sfs and usb flashdrive (Live-RAM environment)
I've read a couple of pages that said I need a puppy save in order to use the devx_400.sfs file. I don't want to do that. I don't like saves. I like double clicking scripts and saying, "Get to work! Install everything!" So, how do I do this? Environment: Puppy Linux 4.00 (Dingo) bootup: pf...

rc.local not carrying over into new remaster (puppy 4.00)
It appears the remaster process is being cross with me. It dares to infringe upon my right to progress. I can only bewilder at the reason for which such a thing would happen, for in the past I have remastered Puppy Linux with a good effect. Recently, I attempted to remaster Puppy Linux 4.00. The mag...

Touchpad configuration, please.
I request the next Puppy release (post Dingo) have a program that allows configuration of the touchpad. I would like it to have the following features: 1. Detect and list driver 2. Turn on/off tap-clicking. (important) 3. Change cursor speed 4. Change double-click speed If adding this as a single pr...

Network swap makes more sense to tell you all the truth. I've tried talking to some techies, and we racked our heads for a while. I found a university website a while ago talking about a study it did with network swap based on RAM-disk. It was very efficient, but the network connection has to be ver...

This doesn't work so well
After using this, it seems to have problems. For instance, if an accesspoint has the name... QWERTY-Free and another one has QWERTY then the script will choose the QWERTY over the QWERTY-Free. Why? Well, I suspect it has to do with character length, the tr command, and some other facts. But after ex...

Can I watch Windows Media (.asf/.wmv/.wma) files using xine? While the container format (system layer) ASF (wmv is just an alias) is fully supported in xine, for newer windows media 9 based streams you'll need to install windows binary codecs (.DLLs). Possibly the most convenient way to get the Win...

I've had a few ideas on things I could event so blind people could use the computer. The problem comes down to the physical boundary.
