Unfortunately, I don't know how to get the *.IMG to recognize that DISK2.TGZ is there in the /custom directory. I wonder if I need to also add DISK2.TGZ to the *.cfg file...

That's an interesting approach. The laptop does support CD boot so running Puppy is possible (though slow). I usually clone my drives by booting up a copy of Puppy 2.0 then then copying everything over and then using the Grub BootLoader Config program. Works everything.
