When you run Grub4Dos Config, it gets information about partitions from Linux. So it's aware of your extended partition and logical volumes. But when you boot your machine, GRUB gets its initial information from the BIOS. So if the BIOS doesn't report the presence of (hd0,5) to GRUB, there are goin...

Change find --set-root --ignore-floppies --ignore-cd /wary53frugal/initrd.gz To root (hd0,5) That was my suggestion as well earlier this weekend. I was puzzled why it didn't work. What about the mapping? I noticed this in one of the menu.lst entries: map (hd1) (hd0) map (hd0) (hd1) map --hook root ...

The gksudo in ubuntu doesn't seem to be necessary. I just used sudo, and that works. e.g.

Code: Select all

sudo geany etc/grub.d/40_custom
and

Code: Select all

sudo update-grub
I noticed that in the boot stanza hda0,1 is sda1, apparently the numbers now match your drive, sda2 would be hda0,2.

Initially, Jesse had a full install of wary on sda6 and grub4dos installed to sda1. Since wary was booting, my thought was not to disturb that and I suggested a frugal install of retro precise to sda1, unfortunately there isn't enough space there. The problem seems to be getting the boot stanza corr...

Adding Puppy Linux to Ubuntu's Grub2 Menu

Hi, On the shoulders of giants, I added puppy linux 5.2.8 to my Ubuntu grub2 menu. After I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS I discovered that the usual grub menu installed with puppy linux was no longer working. Instead, I now had Grub2, and no entry for puppy linux. Just to be clear, I have a frugal inst...

Ok, the pet is for this version of Puppy Linux http://bkhome.org/blog/?viewDetailed=03063 which is why the pet is telling you its missing a lib file. I'd install Precise Puppy 5.4, and then install the pet. You'll be up to date that way.

Ok the URL for the 0.97.6 pet is http://puppylinux.org/wikka/clamav I notice that they give the compile line used to make the pet package. ./configure CFLAGS="-mtune=generic -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}" --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var ...

ClamAV in Puppy Linux

Hi, I don't know who made the clamav-0.97.6-up-20120924.pet or if it was pre-configured. You may want to read my previous post http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=57630 which contained a bit of information on the last version I compiled for Puppy Linux 5.2.8. NOTE: The version I compile...

Bit of Background

Hi, So I decided to give the previous pet package of .045.1 compiled for puppy linux 4.x a whirl in 5.28. I'm happy to report it works just fine without any issues thus far. Again, the little problem I was having with the fills is "magically" gone under .045.1. When I create a PNG file I n...

Inkscape .047 vs .045 Fill issue

Hi, I have an .045 drawing which I opened in .048 and its giving me problems. Some fills do not render properly when I export to PNG as they did in .045. I also tried .047 under windows vista and the exact same error appears in the PNG output. A fill, appears as a black spot rather than a filled obj...

Looking ahead...

Hi gcmartin, I installed the current pet of ClamAV 0.97.0 and it reports the build needs to be updated to 0.97.3. But, it does install, freshclam works etc., on Puppy 5.2.7. It reports that the build needs to be updated, but it works. My current install is the 527 Ubuntu compatible build. If your go...

Don't Panic ClamAV 0,97.0

The pet I made of ClamAV is currently version 0.97.0, therefore Freshclam will report that the ClamAv needs to be updated. Don't Panic! I just need to recompile the pet using the latest source. Note that this pet currently installs on Puppy 527 without any difficulty. I installed the pet and ran Fre...

Re: First Post in this thread - FreshClam

Are you aware that FreshClam selection in your first post does NOT work? Hope this helps Since your running Puppy 528 I can't guarantee that the Pet compiled for 431 will work with your version. I do know that Freshclam did work when the pet was originally compiled and installed in Puppy Linux 431....
