Wireless networking
The networking wizard works OK for me on a Gigabyte AirCruiserG, although I seem to need to run it twice to get all the settings in place and saved. Run wizard..select wireless wlan0..scan network..select network..set up and save ssid and wpa / tkip settings with password..wizard attempts network co...

Hi all, well I'm a happy camper anyway! The trouble I was having with USB booting has disappeared *Partitioned my USB flash drive with QParted to FAT 16 *Set Boot flag *Did a fresh install using the Universal installer *Booted and ran off USB flash, no problems at all  Don't know if it's been ...

USB istall
I have found that a fresh install using 396 or 397 will not boot from a USB stick. If I use 301 to set up the USB stick with Gparted and a working system then I can upgrade to 396 or 397 using the universal installer or upgrade manually without killing the stick. I have only tried FAT16 at this stag...

Hi kaiyoti, glad to be of help. (Not sure if I actually did, but I'll put my hand up anyway!) I suspect the boot.ini wasn't pointing XP to the correct partition. I have an early version of puppy installed on an ext2 primary partition on my secondary master.. /dev/hdc2 I use partition magic to boot m...

Hi kaiyoti, fixboot and fixmbr are both in the XP recovery console....as far as I understand fixboot is for the boot secctor of the partition and fixmbr is for the mbr of the disk. You can usually have up to 4 primary partitions on a hdd, to create more partitions they are placed inside an extended ...

Hi kaiyoti, in the XP recovery console, do both fixboot and fixmbr. Another little free app. that I have found useful is the Ranish Partition Manager. You boot it from floppy and although it's fairly old now and doesn't support NTFS as such, it may tell you if the partitions are still there or not. ...

XP, puppylinux.com homepage and AVG
Hi folks,
don't think it's just my setup.... when I access the puppylinux.com homepage with a fresh ie session, I get two virus hit notefications from AVG and XP sees an attempted active x probe?
AVG identifies the virus as "HTML/Framer"
anyone else seen this?
Regards, Sooty2

USB devices for Palm Pilot syncing
Have blundered on regardless.....please bear with me, I'm fairly in-experienced with the nuts and bolts side of things. As stated before I have installed the pilot-xfer packages listed on this forum and it seems to want to run. Though I'm not 100% sure of the command line functions. I have also seem...

Anyone had any luck with USB Palm syncing?
Hi folks, has anyone had any luck with USB Palm syncing? I have tried "pilot-link" from this forum, and found the Palm OS Desktop HOWTO. pilot-xfer from this package seems to want to work..... The HOWTO suggests to modprobe visor or modprobe usbserial. Neither of these return anything? It ...
