Um... Now I'm confused. Do I use the = or not?
I'm not using it and it is not working, but Grub recognizes the command... Only it does not start the countdown.

Yep, that did it. Thanks!

Only... now it says (after I do ./emesene)

"I refuse to run as root"

Oh well... I guess aMSN will do for now.

grub does not timeout

My grub config does not start the countdown to boot automatically an entry... Any ideas?

The menu.lst is "timeout 10"; Grub says it will start countdown, but it does not... stays always in 10 seconds. Other than that, it works OK... What can it be?

say, I installed the listed pups, but when I use the terminal Puppy says it does not know the SVN command... any ideas? Maybe I'm missing another pup? I'm running NOP 3.01.
Any ideas?

Thanks!

Nope, didn't work.
Although I can actually change the icon for that file, it does not update in the XFCE menu... even after I rebooted.
Thanks for the input, though.

Add an icon in NOP 3.01? [SOLVED]

Hi
I'm happily using NOP 3.01, and added the Firefox 2.12 sfs. It shows up in the XFCE main menu and works really well, but the menu entry appears withouth an icon. Can anyone tell me how to add the icon? The Menu Editor does not seem to work for that...

Cheers,

Ignore the above post, it IS installed... it just does not have a menu entry in XFCE. I used a terminal, and there it is!

Thanks

Hey, thanks for this!
But it does not seem to work for me (using NOP Puppy)
I installed it using BootManager, but if it IS getting installed, it does not show up in the menus... any ideas as to why, or how can I check if it's actually installed?

Thank you

Thanks for answering! The problem was that no matter which grub entry I chose, I would eventually end with the original Puppy boot (and not the new DCL). It did a normal boot, no error messages. I tried deleting the puppy_save.sfs (I made a copy first) and that did it: I was able to boot to DCL with...

Can't boot 2 different Puppies

Hello I've been runing Puppy 3.01 without problems for some time now, and I wanted to test DCL (Puppy+XCFE) I have one 6 GB drive with Win2K, Puppy and an empty 1 GB FAT32 partition where I copied the DCL files (frugal install). The machine does not have a CD, and it can't boot from USB. So I copied...

Linksys WUSB11 no longer working in Puppy 3.01

Hey, I upgraded my machine from Puppy 2.17 to 3.01, and my Linksys WUSB11 2.8 antenna no longer connects to my WLAN. It did before after I installed the atmel driver available in WiFi extras to download. Now Puppy recognizes the antenna and is able to find a "live" network, but it can't ge...

FIX!

Regarding my /bin/sh:can't access tty;job control turned off problems, I fixed it specifying the partition grub had to work on in ALL lines in menu.lst My entry now looks like this: title Puppy rootverify (hd0,1) kernel (hd0,1)/vmlinuz root=/dev/ram0 PMEDIA=satahd initrd (hd0,1)/initrd.gz I am now t...

@RickyVaio Try "PMEDIA=satahd" instead of "pmedia=satahd" in your menu.lst kernel line Nope, no luck, same tty thing. It IS picking up the kernel and the compressed distro, though; if I do "ls" it shows a directory structure... If it helps, I'm trying to run frugal in ...

I have the same error mentioned above: /bin/sh:can't access tty;job control turned off I've got a frugal install in a 300 MB FAT partition... the GRUB entry is standard: title Puppy rootnoverify (hd0,2) kernel (hd0,2)/vmlinuz root=/dev/ram0 pmedia=satahd initrd (hd0,2)/initrd.gz Maybe it's because i...

Um, I'm pretty sure you can use the same swap... I dunno about sharing the same partition for two distros... I suppose you could do a frugal install of Puppy in the DSL partition (you just need to tell Lilo where vmlinuz and the other files are), but if you have a free partition try to install it th...

Same problem here

Say, I've got the same problem, I think I did a full install, and everything worked fine... until one day the machine crashed, and now it does not mount the swap partition automatically, and it says I'm out of memory (the red thingy in the system bar). Partview says, correctly, that I'm using only 3...
