Thanks Upnorth, that was the trick. If I just run xwin openbox the entries work but I have been using openbox-session. I added those lines in and it works perfectly now.
Thanks for your continued help too Stu!

Thanks for getting back to me guys. Beem I am currently running with no reference to acpi in the boot commands. If I run acpi=off I cannot boot into X. Stu if I boot into jwm I can shutdown and reboot using the menu entries no problems. It is only when I boot into openbox that the menu entries do no...

I'm currently running Spup 100 frugal but I posted here because this problem happens on Quirky and Wary as well. Stu the menu entries are puppies menu entries, at the bottom I have shutdown -> reboot, poweroff, restart x server. I installed openbox from the woof repository on the ppm. Could it be a ...

Shutdown in openbox
Hi All, For some reason whenever I install openbox in puppy it does not shutdown properly when I use the shutdown menu item in the openbox menu. If I select shutdown, nothing happens at all. But if I then exit to prompt using Ctr-Alt-BkSp it shutsdown immediately without me typing anything in. It se...

Hey Big Bass, Sorry it took me a while to get back to you, I've been a bit busy lately. That tint2 package works well, and there are no issues with its functions. Thanks for checking that out. Only issue is I don't think it has a systray like later versions of tint2. If I get some time soon I will c...

Hi Big Bass, Thanks for the tips re: compiling tint2 for txzpup. I'm almost there now but I've got this error (see attached) regarding 'GFile' undeclared. I've done a bit of a search on the internet and apparently it is something to do with GIO and glib. I had to compile the most recent glib to sati...

Hi Big Bass, I really like your txzpup. Its the only puppy that works on my hardware perfectly, with none of the new flavours (Quirky, Wary, Lucid, Slackpup) configuring my wifi properly, it was always dropping out and rarely remembered between boots. I'm still learning to use linux, and am really e...

Hi All, I'm a newbie so don't know if my reporting will help. Of the recently released iso's Slackpup is the only one to boot to the desktop when I probe for a video driver. In Lucid and Quirky I have had to choose Xvesa as the computer freezes otherwise. Wifi is working intermittently for me on Sla...

@rcrsn51: Your menu.lst looks OK, so here are some questions. 1. Does Puppy run on this machine off the Live CD? Yes 2. Is (hd0,2) correct? Is Puppy actually installed on the third partition? Yes it is on sda3 and it is in C:\puppy400 3. When GRUB freezes, do you get error messages? No just freezes ...

Hi, I installed this .pet and there were a whole bunch of dependencies missing: libgdk_imlib.so.2, libgtk-1.2.so.0, libgdk-1.2.so.0, libgmodule-1.2.so.0 and libglib-1.2.so.0. I think some of the theme engines are working because I went to the CH theme changer and there are a whole bunch of new ones ...
