Got the printer to work even the fax but can not get xsane to detect the scanner. anyone had an hp all in one scanner working in Slako 5.6?

you should be able to do that just boot up the live 5.6 cd and go through the installer and when asked click on upgrade instead of wipe. that way you should keep all you bookmard etc. , but as always it's a good idea to back up any critical data just in case thing do go wrong.

here is the command for shutting down linux in the terminal

You have to be root.
so su and enter your passwd.
the command is

Code: Select all

shutdown -h now
if you want to reboot the machine it is

Code: Select all

shutdown -r now

I haven't notice that Problem here have cups working fine on 3 installs all 2 with HP Officejets and one on a Samsung Lazer printer. everything worked fine.

So not exactly sure what your encountering.

I want to remove the Dot-pup menu entry, and place all of its entries into their appropriate groups. This will stop them from from being automatically removed when I uninstall the pups, so I'll have to remove them manually.
