VNC

@max

I'm running 7.5rc5 with a VNC viewer. Installed xtightvncviewer_1.3.9-9.deb from the package manager. I also have anydesk for remote assistance work, but prefer VNC for remoting into my local file servers.

samba share

Hi radky This is an update to the first post. Did some additional testing, I used the same hardware as above and created shares with slacko 6.3. Both puppy and windows clients could access without any issues. Also, used completely different hardware and set up shares with stretch 7.5 rc5. Tried to a...

Teamviewer

Hi Mike, Thanks for keeping up with the changes. I used Teamviewer V6 for years to help family and friends. Version 6 worked great in both windows and Linux. As Teamviewer evolved it took on "feature creep" and grew in size and complexity, but they continued to support the older simple ver...

Pupsnap in rc5

@radky

fbpanel was the fix, I had searched in the pupsnap topic and didn't find anything. Should have done a better search to find it right here in the Dpup topic. Will do better in the future.

Pupsnap in rc5

hi radky, I converted from rc4 to rc5 the first part of August. I copied the rc5 files into a directory and then copied my rc4 save file into the directory. On the first run it did a save file conversion and everything seems to be working well. I have found that pupsnap now thinks that the keyboard ...

Touchpad settings

Hi radky, Running rc5 on my laptop. I prefer to turn the touchpad off otherwise I am always hitting it while typing or navigating. I use control center>hardware>touchpad = off then save and quit. This works until I restart and the touchpad is back on. I checked the /.flSynclient file and the Touchpa...

teamviewer 14

hi cmonnnnnnn If you run teamviewer 14 in a terminal or if you use menu>setup to check for dependencies you'll find it needs the QT5 libraries. I haven't found anyone who has successfully loaded QT5 and TV14. The only success I've found is Mike Walsh's Iron browser loading the TV14 browser extension...

rox drive id

Hi radky; I'm happily using rc5, just copied my rc4 save file over and all is well, thanks for that. One thing I've noticed in all the versions is how rox identifies my home partition. On my system I have 1 hard drive with 2 partitions so the desktop shows icons sda1 and sda2. All my frugal installs...

Remote Control

@musher0 Something like EtherCalc or ZOHO are web/cloud based applications and are only "remote desktop" in a very narrow sense. Remote Desktop programs as used in the context of this topic provide broad control of the remote computer, you can literally do anything that doesn't require phy...

@musher0 I'm afraid I (we) have wrongly assummed all users would understand the software term "remote desktop". Remote control is the better description for remote desktop. It allows one computers keyboard, mouse, and screen to control another computer. The computer being controlled can be...

anydesk 5.1.1

Recently Teamviewer disabled any version less than 14 for its free users. They made significant changes to their code in version 14 and several forum members including Mike Walsh and myself have been unsuccessful in getting the new version to run in puppy. I've done some research and testing on alte...

teamviewer

Hi Mike; I loaded iron-63.0.3300.0-i386.sfs and it did run the chrome teamviewer 14 app. Looking at the space required for the different alternates I've tried at this point: Iron + chrome teamviewer app = 240mb (working) wine + teamviewer 14 = 430mb (not working) Anydesk 5.1.1-1 = 12mb (working) As ...

teamviewer 14

Hi Mike; Yes, I was trying to get the Windows portable version to run in wine-1.6-i486_v3.sfs that I had running. Then setup wine-portable-3.3_v2.1.tar.gz and tried it. Tried putting the teamviewer folder both inside and outside of wine. Actually got it to open once, but could not repeat. I'm using ...

Teamviewer 14

Does anyone have Teamviewer portable 14 running in wine? I made some feeble unsuccessful attempts. I'm running Dpup Stretch 7.5 rc4 and downloaded the portable from portableapps.com. All this made necessary because Teamviewer has deprecated all versions older than 14 for free users. Thanks for any s...

RC4 4.9.149 kernel

Hi radky, Thought I'd relay my experience with RC4 to you. I've done about 10 installs ranging from an old Intel P4 with 512ram to Intel I5 & I7 laptops. All have gone smoothly and without problems. They're running the openbox/fbpanel desktop and I've done a couple of remasters that include the ...

Intel T2080

@darkcity The short answer is no it is not to old. I have a much older 1.8ghz, P4 with 512kb ram that can boot and run a frugal install of the latest RC4 .149 kernel. The Intel T2080 is a dual core, 32 bit cpu, so it can only run 32bit Linux distributions and Dpup Stretch 7.5 RC4 is 32bit. You shoul...
