i had exactly the same question - and found a solution!

right click somewhere on the desktop.

the last menu entry "applciations" should offer a "log-out" menu, down at the bottom.

this works on my pc:

- reboot
- log-out
- shut down.

ok, i managed to install the nvidia-drivers.

but still: the kde-apps are not available.

i always get a message "file does not exist" when i click on k3b (for example)...

hi there! i just installed muppy for the first time, and have 2 big problems: 1) when i open the 3DCC menu, select the nvidia-drivers an click "OK" - nothing happens... is there any other way to install the nvidia-drivers? 2) some of the kde-apps (k3b for example) seem to be missing. here ...
