installing Pet files

I had a Pet of Ace installed with each executable game being called what it was. Another later version had Ace and the beginning of the executable file name. After installing it, the older versions did not run anymore even though the executable name was different. So... When one upgrades a game or a...

Memory and pupsave size

My PC is running Lupu 520. I have a 3.6gig pupsave file loaded with various programs and apps as well as a few SFS files loaded. Upon running the file/partition size app, the base directory ,/, is showing the size as 4.1gigs. So how is it possible for that base directory size to be bigger than my in...

Evidently, HP is in the process of making an entirely new computer chip that could replace the transistor. It seems to be the combination of a capacitor, transistor, and resistor. It is supposed to go beyond being an on-off type and can be variable as to it's value. It is also said to be able to ret...

Medicare and ObamaCare

First, I am retired and have Medicare as well as being on my wife's work insurance policy. When I started using Medicare, I discovered that Medicare listed the insurance through my wife's work policy as my primary insurance and Medicare as my secondary insurance. This meant that Medicare did not pay...

It was not a Dell laptop, but my daughter's Acer laptop had developed heating problems. The area where one feels air exhausting did not seem overly hot though. I disassembled the laptop following instructions I got from the internet and found a square block of lint blocking the heat stove path. And ...

Somewhere along the line of downloading mawk, I got connected to a site called marriage chat with the picture of a young lady and a chat window with the line "Why don't you join now?"
Not what I was expecting.
I will have to check out the mawk programming language though.

I had previously visited internet archive to see how the games compare to those I can still play on my ancient computer with its 1.75 MHz processor and 64 kilobytes of ram. And I used that computer for quite a while with the thought that I would purchase an IBM compatible PC when it would have the f...

I disagree with your assumption that OnStar is on every GM vehicle. OnStar was an option that one could get when we bought our 2007 Pontiac G6. But as cars are being built to be smarter, hacking into the computer to partially control a car are a possibility and with the proposed introduction of self...

I have Win 7 on a laptop and a desktop as other OSes installed. I retain them to play some games that will not work with wine in linux. Down the line, I may set up a few virtual drive installations of Windows for the games I have bought/acquired that need older versions of Windows to even install le...

I have Precise 5.7.1 installed frugally on my PC along with Lupu 520. I have some video movies I had downloaded from YouTube using the GTK Youtube Viewer. Back in the Windows 95 time span, I can remember an article about someones test of running the complete OS and applications from a ram disk. I used that printer to print 3 part carbonless forms that were custom shipping manifests for a company I had at one time.
And trying to print multiple part forms with an inkjet or lazer printer just does not work. Tractor feed dot matrix printers are still used by a lot of businesses.
