I just want to thank you for expending the time and effort to create this for us. It transforms an already nice Puppy 2.17 into the deluxe edition.

Very well done!

Still doesn't work right for 2.17 with EZpup. It cloned the original desktop, but it used the icons from /root/Choices/ROX-Filer, when it should have used the ones from /root/.config/rox.sourceforge.net/ROX-Filer. From my own tests, it looks like Rox uses /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/globicons until a ne...

Puppy 2.17 with EZpup-2.1.7R2. I Activated Black_Vista_MU and all seemed well. Then I tried to activate 1 and a blank desktop appeared. I could not get the original back until I rebooted. Then I tried to clone the original desktop with a new name. Activated that one and got a blank desktop again. No...

Please test this, I need feedback
I'll give it a workout this weekend and report back to that thread. It's not what I'm looking for here, but it looks like a good tool to easily create, manage, and use multiple 'looknfeel's for Puppy!

WM that allows different pinboards for each desktop?

Is there a window manager that allows different pinboards/icons for each desktop? What I would like is to have a different set of icons, and maybe background, that would automatically change as I move from one desktop to another. I have Puppy sort of set up this way now with different pinboards, but...

Is it confined to Puppy, or to the version of Gtk it uses? It may be the way Gtk is compiled/configured for Puppy. The same clist demo, compiled in Puppy, displays the titles correctly in PClinuxOS with Gtk 2.8.9, and shows truncated titles in a pure Puppy 2.14 with Gtk 2.6(?) and with Gtk 2.8.17 i...

Puppy 2.17 and GTK display problem

There seems to be a glitch with GTK in Puppy 2.14 and 2.17. Clist titles are truncated and the problem appears to be confined to Puppy. Details are here

I have installed VMware server version 1.0.2 build 39867 with the virtual machines on a ext2 HD partition using puppy 2.14 and I did not have to install any kernel source other than what came with the Devx-214.sfs package. Apparently, either different versions of Puppy Devx packages have a different...

Brady,
The kernel source needed by vmware server is included in the Devx-214.sfs. Once that is installed the vmware install script should find the kernel source in /lib/modules/2.6.18.1/build/include

Mark, I believe this may be what I have been looking for, a small linux basic language with a GUI designer that can produce attractive, advanced applications. Now maybe I can dump wxLua! From what I understand GtkBasic is based on wxBasic, correct? Does GtkBasic support all of the wxBasic data types...

Barry, I installed the pet packages in puppy2.14 (HD install) and everything seems to work. I would vote yes to include it in the standard puppy release simply because it's a great tool for working with SQLite3 and many people would find it useful. If you decide not to do this then may I suggest tha...

WhoDo wrote What I need, and I guess most of the Puppy users I deal with need, is to have someone create a nice, easy GUI frontend for SQLite3 so we don't have to use tcl/tk, gins, puppybasic, gtk et al to create forms and reports. Hello WhoDo. I'll second that. A form and report designer is a huge ...

Excuse me for butting in here. Has everyone forgotten that Puppy already has a good database? SQLite3 can be used in Puppy from the terminal, puppybasic, murgalua, perl, etc. If you want a GUI database manager there is TkSQLite. GUI forms can be created with tcl/tk, gins, puppybasic, gtk and others....

Success! I'm not an expert but this is how I installed VMware Server in Puppy2.14. It follows the instructions given by brad_chuck and Eric with a couple of small but important differences. My system: Running 2.14 from live CD. pup_save file located on a 14GB ext2 hard drive partition. Devx-214.sfs ...
