For the next version Sidders is planning on removing the file system drivers...so this will be an entirely liveCD based creation (see above). .... I believe I could edit the init (in initrd.gz) and /etc/rc.d/rc.shutdown scripts that perform this to remove the creation/upgrade parts and make this a ...

The psave parameter can be used in conjunction with the psubdir/psubok parameters, but its function is independent and it can be used stand-alone. Any combination can be used, which gives a lot of flexibility. . This is getting too interesting. Suppose i have frugal installs puppy 4.20 in hda3/p420...

puppy 4.2 retro requires re-connection for built-in ipw3945 as well.
(it's not connected at boot)

No such problem with puppy 3.01.
Puppy 4.12, 4.2 standard kernel with iwl3945 does not connect at all.

wonderful release, congrats to WhoDo et al. Just some comments: sending desktop icons to the 'Trash' will 'move the original item' to the Trash. If the title "Puppy Linux 3.01 Frugal" cannot even come up on a splash screen, you may be booting from a different Grub which has its own menu.lst somewhere else. Once you found the right menu.lst, this should work, assuming you got the files in hda5/puppy301. title puppy3.01 frugal on hda...

Renaming the pup_save file is not necessary if you boot with pfix=ram. Put this into the menu.lst statement for test-booting Puppy from HD. 1. Rename the pup_save.3fs file. 2. Do a manual frugal install to the hard drive by copying these 4 files to the HD: vmlinuz, initrd.gz, pup_301.sfs, zdrv_301.sfs 3. Edit the menu.lst to enable dual-boot Beatrix & Puppy. 4. boot Puppy from hard drive 4a. If success, problem is with the optical d...
