Pizzasgood:
My petget has the same problem when run from the menu (Menu -> Setup -> Puppy Package Manager) or the Desktop ("install"). Don't know how to run it from terminal, so can't comment on that.

Interesting, but I seem to have the same problem. I think it was something related to installing the firefox 1.5 .pet, then installing the firefox 2.0 .pet. PetGet seems to believe that both are installed, but version 1.5 runs from the menu entry. Given PetGet will now not allow any changes, I've le...

Can't help with the screen issue, I'm afraid. As for wireless - Dell Inspirons use Intel Wireless chipsets (my 500m does anyway) - and I believe the 6400 has the ipw3945 chipset. Assuming that's true (and wireless works within Windows): 1. Boot Puppy. Click Menu -> Setup -> Network Wizard 2. In &quo...

Assuming they are both IDE hard drives, install them both in your computer. Then boot from the Puppy CD (I use 2.14). Use either Pdisk or GParted (Menu -> System) to partition the drive (e.g. hdb1, hdb5, hdb6 etc) if you want; this will also tell you what the drives are mounted as (e.g. hda, hdb). I...

I toyed with DSL (very) briefly before settling on Puppy2.14 (or LitePup) for a variety of 64Mb+ RAM machines. But that's because I was (and still am) new to Linux, and found the easy installation wizards in Puppy much more user friendly than DSL. Admittedly, DSL is a lot faster on the sub 128Mb RAM...

You might try DSL, a 2.4 kernel based linux. Was pretty quick on a Pentium 2 with 32MB RAM, but apparently runs on much less. It should even run as a live CD, and the wiki explains how to HD install.

Has anyone got the r8180 driver to connect with WEP? I ask, because my acx100 chipset PCI card (D-Link DWL520+) connects to my wireless network without encryption, but will not connect with either WEP or WPA encryption on Puppy either (but works fine in XP). Presumably it's something to do with the ...

I did a full install of LitePup2.14 on a Toshiba laptop with 64Mb RAM. Set up a 100Mb swap partition too. Then added Opera 9.10 for browsing. Has AbiWord included for simple word processing, and Opera has built in email. Good enough for most uses. As for setting up your swap partition, LitePup loads...

I have just successfully installed LitePuppy2.14 on a P2 40MB RAM system today. Even managed to add (and run) Opera9.10 (installed by .pet following qt.pet). Not exactly blistering pace, but runs fine (with a 100MB swap partition). @karniemi: I briefly tried DSL before discovering Puppy, and actuall...

I encountered the same problem. I think the issue is that the links to GNU Aspell are all uncompiled. And given I don't know how to compile it, that's where my investigations ended.

Help greatly appreciated. Or a .pup or .pet would be even better!
