Thanks for the link. Unfortunately the hardware that I have (Engenius NUB862 Atheros 5523 USB adapter) doesn't have a real linux driver, and it seems it won't have one for some time. Looking at the ndiswrapper website, it seems a newer version than 1.44 is required to fix the problem that I have (i....

How to upgrade ndiswrapper ?
Hello,
Is it possible to upgrade the ndiswrapper used in 2.14? Do i need to download the whole 60MB devx.sfs for that?
Or maybe there is a dotpup out there?
Thanks

Kernel panic after several remasters
Hello, After several remasters I get a Kernel Panic. It says: Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block (1,0) Note, that if I add another master hard drive, then it boots fine from Grub from the second hard drive. What could be the problem and can this be solved? Here...

It'd be great if someone compiled and made a dotpup out of XNC - X Northern Captain - X based File Manager. It's available at http://xnc.dubna.su/
I've tried the Slackware and Debian packages for it but they always exit with segmentation fault, so it seems this has to be compiled on Puppy to work.

Almost all of the stuff from www.portablefreeware.com should work fine in 0.9.28. The ironic thing is that most of the software for Windows that works in Wine is faster than the native Linux alternatives. For instance, Total Commander beats any linux file manager (and I've tried many) and Notepad++ ...

I copied all the TTF files from Wine. It shows cyrillic fine but I cannot type it in. I've read reports of it working in Ubuntu, so the problem might not be in Wine. With Wine 0.9.35 are you able to type in Cyrillic or in French? You can try by going to Advanced Keyboard Layout options and adding th...

Type non english fonts in Wine?
Has anyone been able to type in non-english character set in Wine?
I'm using Wine 0.9.28 and whenever I change the keyboard set, say to cyrillic I do not see the characters being typed in. Although it shows cyrillic just fine.
Is it possible?

Internation Keyboard Layouts do not work in Wine under Puppy
I'm using Wine version 0.9.28 and while it shows cyrillic font just fine I have trouble entering it. If I do Alt-Shift and type anything in Notepad for instance it doesn't enter input into the screen. Only english works. The same method works just fine with native applications i.e Opera, Leafpad. Af...

There's a few options here, in order of ease - * boot from the cd! * boot from usb, either with a usb install or with a bootloader on a stick * install grub to the hard drive (same issues mentioned in the original post) I'm sure if I thought about it there would be more still, hey how about qemu? Re: Problem with fonts - enabling BCI
I've been trying to enable hinting in freetype. I've compiled and installed freetype with bci enabled, but hinting does not work. Even ms fonts look ugly. I've tried to download libfreetype with bci enabled, as advised here: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?search_id=1646353006&t=...

I've used a few of experience's releases, they are very good and secure. xp beast runs well on old hardware (like litepup in some respects). xp vista is only really good if you have the grunt to run aero, otherwise its a stripped out xp (but does have excellent driver support) xp ultimate is a full...

How to change keyboard layout in Wine on Puppy?
Hello, Does anyone know if it's possible to get keyboard layout to work in Wine under Puppy? I've enabled the Russian layout and it works on native apps, but when I try for instance to enter stuff into any Windows app, it doesn't enter anything, only English works. After googling I found only soluti...

How to run Office 2003 in Wine on Puppy
Ok, this guide is for advanced users, who have some knowledge of how Windows works. It also won't be too detailed since I don't have much time. If in doubt, use Google. By following this guide you can get basic Office functionality to work. Why would you want to use Office if Puppy has Abiword and G...

Puppy slower than Windows 2000 Pro?
Hello, I have installed Puppy to a hard drive of a PC which used to run Win2k. It's Pentium 200Mhz with 96MB ram. After the onboard USB controller fried , Windows refuses to run and to install. Anyways, Puppy boots fine on it. However, it's UI feels much slower than Windows. And it's also a lot slow...

Suspend 2 ram
Currently, the suspend to ram feature isn't working in Puppy (at least on my laptop). There is a tool called s2ram which makes the process easier (you just type s2ram and the machine goes to sleep) . It's at http://en.opensuse.org/S2ram. You would need to use unrpmfull.pup for unpacking the rpm file...

Re: Is it possible to Put Laptop into Standby and Resume?
I found a solution to part of the problem. I'm posting the steps here as it might be useful to some: 1. Download http://software.opensuse.org/download/home:/seife/openSUSE_10.2/i586/suspend-0.50.20070213-4.3.i586.rpm and rename the file to suspend.rpm. The file is RPM package for suspend.sf.net proj...
