Puppy Linux in SPOTLIGHT!!!

So much has changed here..... Yes, now I'm using Ubuntu, but still use Puppy as a little fun thing to do. But to the point: Just thought I'd like to tell everyone this. :D Puppy is featured on Digg!!! OR at least, on a website featuring the TOP 35 LINUX DISTROS!!! And here is the evidence: http://di...

Wow... all of this while I was away???? Whoever did this is weird and mad. Obviously they want to kill Puppy for no reason. As for security stuff, here is my story: My website was hacked. The index.html had been changed. THis guy was also attempting to install viruses on me to, with an MP3 vi...

@willhunt: You mean: ./configure make make install dir2tgz tgz2pet Not really different. Maybe a bit more complex... How packpet works: Looks for directories with source... then executes ./configure --prefix= (current directory) /buildp/ (package name)/(prefix) . Then, executes make and make install...

packpup v1.0 BETA (and packpet v1.1)

I have done some hard work, and there it is: packpup! Also, I fixed some bugs in packpet. Bugs fixed: - Library links are not inside - The package size is larger than required - More features..... packpup makes DotPups from source. It builds the program, and packs it into a PUP. It does the dirty wo...

I made it for myself mostly, because I am lazy too....

I will soon update the script and also release packpup soon.

These scripts will lead to petpuptools, a set of simple but useful pet/pup tools.

Enjoy.... :D

PET maker (and PUP)

I have a nice tool I made for myself. This script will take all the source packages (already extracted), compile them, and turn them into pets for your own Puppy distribution (if you are making one). That means.... If I want GIMP in my distro, I just download the tar.gz from gimp's website, extract ...

Wow.. that fast????

The interface looks a little too much orange (not a good icon set).

Puppy 3.0.1 was a bit of a pain....

The older Puppies (2.xx) are usable and workable. I wouldn't stop using that for now....

Is Puppy 4 going to be based on T2?

packpet (under development,help requested)

packpet is a little script I made that can automatically package tgzs out of source packages. For example: I download vim source package. I put the script into the same directory as the vim source is. Now I run packpet and in a while, the script finishes and volla, my pets are in there! Right now it...

File timestamp problems

I am finally back.... Interesting to see Puppy 3.00. Very nice design and work! Now the bug: There are timestamp problems in Puppy. If I compile a program, sometimes it will recompile infinitely. I took a look at what make was outputing. It outputed: make[3]: Warning: File `/usr/include/glib-2.0/gli...

FBsplash development (aka bootsplash/gensplash)

What is fbsplash? :?: fbsplash is a better version of bootsplash. Bootsplash development is currently stopped for some reasons... And Splasy isn't exacly good (it requires YOU to tell it when to show/stop.) So I've decided to attempt to implement fbsplash to Puppy(and CoolPup). fbsplash is @ http://...

Undeletable files....

As I just said. There are these ".fuse" files (with numbers at the end of them) that no matter what, I can't delete these files! And if I delete one, another one comes.... Look: http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb110/jimhap/screen3.png http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb110/jimhap/scre...

Is it the base packages proposed in the 2.17 list, or the 2.16 base packages list?

And are they different? (Just in case you kept it the same)

Weird questions right? Just making sure I don't jump upgrade again....

Yes it's slow. I am using the 2.14 core, but I've decided to go use 2.16.1 now... And to make it more interesting, I am 2000 miles away from home! I'm back! After a long weird week(s) (problems, etc.) I am back! Now back to the topic. I posted a dotPup request topic, and lots of people responded. Some people mentioned educational software. That gave me an idea..... Educational Software + Puppy Linux 2.14 = EduPup (from Edubuntu) I won't manage...
