Running Gnome-Boxes in Puppy Linux
Has anybody successfully run Gnome-Boxes in Bionicpup64 or Sc64?? And if so, what extra dependencies were required? I have attempted this but struck issues, which seem to be related to missing dependencies. There is an error message on running the program regarding not being able to access underlyin...

I have tried quit a few audio editors over the years, but never heard of Eko. What feature(s) are you looking for in an audio editor that mhWaveEdit cannot provide?? (the latter being installed on most puppy linux OS, and which does a fair job..it is just brilliant as recording software, having a ne...

enrique has a point, and I empathize with it However... Portable Wine is sooooooo easy to install and win.exe's can be run run using the WINE console. Most people would use only a few Windows programs, due to the availability of so many useful Linux alternatives, Even a built-in WINE may never be ab...

I have had issues with Wine from the PPM, and so I just use Portable Wine, even in a 64 bit Puppy (with 32 bit compatibility sfs). In fact you can have both Wines installed at the same time. Wine from PPM wine runs under a terminal command: wine <Windows_Program.exe> . Portable wine runs under wine....

Hi fjd, A long answer cut short. From my limited experience it is difficult to install more than one fully fledged OS on a usb, as the USB can only boot from one partition if there are several. I install MX-Linux on the USB which creates the EFI FAT32 boot partition, plus a fully installed MX-Linux ...

In relation to scanning, there is often a hplip-scan-xx.xx.xx.pet which needs to be added in. In older puppies this was hard to find and was archived ( eg tahrpup 6.05) . In more recent puppies it is in the PPM, if it is needed. I also believe that the Hplip needed to be installed first, then Hplip-...

A brief simple recipe I have successfully used: 1) Run route -n to get the IP routing table and gateway ( eg 192.168.2.1) 2) Run ifconfig to get the interface labels ( eg eth0 or wlan0 ) 3) Use Geany or Leafpad to edit etc/dhcpcd.conf # append the following 4 lines to any existing script in dhcpcd.c...

I had the exact same issue about a month ago. I solved it by reinstalling the same HPLIP print (and scan? file - I think it was in the puppy package manager. This has happened to me before and I applied the same remedy. In any case I vaguely recall seeing updated HPLIP files on the HP website. Hope ...

Just for the heck of it I tried out the Stickpup installer in BionicPup64, which produced a bootable USB in next to no time, replete with Frugal files, EFI and GRUB config files of my chosen ISO, which was BionicPup64_8.0. One does need the original ISO image on file for installation. I believe Stic...

I downloaded the debian (cf Ubuntu ) .deb file from the ZOOM website and installed it on a frugal puppy_bionicpup64_8.0, running on my Ollee ML130 el cheapo laptop. Ran perfectly first time online, although I had to tweak up the volume controls on the mike - helped by details from a recent forum pos...

Skype works in LXPUPSC4
I loaded up the Skype sfs in LXPUPSC4 (19.09) running on my laptop.
Tested fine with audio and video on both ends, without requiring any tweaking.
An excellent result. I have been wanting to get Skype to work on Puppy Linux for quite some time.
Thank you so much !

Another suggestion
Hi pansive. Dont give up. Rufus is the simplest way to make a live USB, if thats what I think you are after. Download the portable RUFUS (3.9) version to Windows 10. Save to desktop, and run from there, by clicking on the .exe file. It may need to download some files in the process. Say YES to this....

Great software !
I agree with Rockedge.
I used the NicOS-remastering tool for the first time the other day and was very pleased with the result.
Thanks for the effort you have put into it.
