It's really very simple. Your behavior is being monitored online, because companies want to find out what you value, and once they've found out, they want to monetize that information. In other words, all that you enjoy, they want to own, and make you pay for it. This principle works both online and...

Let's not burn mobile phone masts down, and let's not be persuaded to believe the coronavirus is caused by 5G.

We should not just concern ourselves with the impact on human health. This study suggests that even a normal wifi router performing under standard conditions may have a detrimental effect on the health of the plant life in its immediate surroundings. If 5G deployment requires network towers dotted a...

I did use youtube-dl, and the YouTube url's are easily retrievable in DuckDuckGo, but I do not trust it anymore. A repeated occurance led me to believe it is a security risk. You have to update it quite regularly for it to maintain functional. I suppose they play a game of whack a mole with YouTube....

So what I'm hearing in this thread, is that PC's in particular, are being declared obsolete for mainly one reason; too slow for the Internet. But a PC is a tool you can use for so many other things than web-surfing. And Puppy Linux is still particularly useful in a sense that it allows people to run...

Maybe the whole viewpoint of 'governments using national companies for nefarious purposes' is outdated. Perhaps we're already living in our own dystopian Bladerunner/Alien universe where large, global conglomerates are using puppet governments for their own nefarious purposes instead. Maybe the conc...

Intel claims security flaw patched when it's not
"The chip maker patched several problems in May. Now it is issuing another fix, and researchers say the company hasn’t been straight about its issues."

Kinda sounds like they were trying to sweep things under the rug.

Another important change, is that they have removed (the exact phrase was removed, or disabled) hardware decoding for mpeg-2 and vc-1 on the RP4. So this means you can no longer buy a mpeg-2 and vc-1 license key to enable hardware decoding, it has to be done through software. This may be an issue fo...

Here's a little something I run up against, and solved. It may be of help to someone. I recently purchased a NVidia Geforce GT 710, and I wanted it to work on a frugal install of Puppy Precise 5.7.1. So I used the nvidia-glx-352.63-k3.9.11.sfs. Loaded it, ran nvidia-xconf at the command prompt, and ...

I am currently working on a computer with a videocard with no 3D capability whatsoever, so playing these games is simply not possible for me right now. However, I have played both Warzone2100 and UFO:AI on another computer with Precise PUppy 5.7.1. In fact, I still have an sfs here of Warzone2100 if...

Radialapps ported the RPG Exit Fate to linux. That transition has not been flawless, so there's a snag here and there, but it is playable. I enjoyed it anyway. It's pretty much a self contained package.
