That seems to say something is wrong with the USB drive. Have you tried to completely reformat the USB drive and do a fresh new install of Bionicpup? Reformatting is the import part. That should make sure fragmented file system is not causing this problem. Just to try other possible causes. Try plu...

I don't think its a bad download as in VMWare/Virtualbox it works well. Plus the MD5 checksums match . Are you saying that Bionicpup64 8.0, used in this way, on the exact same laptop , works with no problem? Only if you boot from a install on a USB drive it has issues? Yes. In a VM the same iso wor...

Brightness and Volume controls not working If this is a laptop computer and you are talking about the buttons/keys on the laptop. That is kind of normal, the option keys not working on laptops. Bionicpup has programs for controlling those things. I assume some operating system will boot and run OK ...

Brightness and Volume controls not working.

I tried using System Info to get the system specs but it just hangs. In Task Manager lsusb is driving CPU usage to 16% and I couldn't even kill it. System specs: Intel Ci5 8250U,Nvidia MX150 8GB RAM Only the USB drive used to boot Puppy is connected besides a mouse. Bionicpup64 8.0. I used Rufus to ...

RAM usage a tad high?

Hi all. This is the very first Puppy that I could get working in a VM without any issues so happy about it. But the RAM consumption immediately after boot seems a little high. Lubuntu 19.0.4 was around 480MB whereas Bionicpup64 was a good 100MB or so higher. I have 8GB RAM installed so its only an i...

Bionicpup compatibility.

Will it work in Bionicpup64 without having to mess around with missing dependencies etc? If yes which is better the .pet or .sfs from a RAM consumption POV?

Thanks for the link. Got it working. Finally have a ripple-free desktop. I do have a few issues: 1.I installed Chrome from FD's Control Panel but it does not start at all. Ditto for FF 58? although I had been warned about missing dependencies . Lxterminal output: firefox XPCOMGlueLoad error for file...

Thanks for replying. No I did not have the devx sfs installed. I was not aware it was needed. I am on 721. So this one http://distro.ibiblio.org/fatdog/sfs/720/fd64-devx_721.sfs? P.S. The Nvidia SFS link http://distro.ibiblio.org/fatdog/sfs/720/nvidia-340.104-x86_64-k4.14.6.sfs is not working. Same ...

Thanks for the response. Optimus is not to blame here as it was launched much later. Atleast with Kodi video playback which was the main issue has been taken care of. Although screen tearing persists elsewhere. The proprietary Nvidia drivers might have helped if nothing else but to tame the high GPU...

Broken link for Nvidia driver.

In SFS Manager I get the error "Failed to download" and in ibiblio website 404 error. Please reupload if possible. With Kodi finally I have screen tearing free playback. But for some reason with the inbuilt Nouveau drivers the GPU always seems to run at its highest voltage (resulting in hi...

Screen Tearing

I was previously using Slacko 6.3.2 but because of screen tearing I decided to test Fatdog64 but to my disappointment the same issue persisted. Not just in video playback, but just moving any window real fast or scrolling in browser etc. I also experimented with Compiz-reloaded but the recommended s...

Screen tearing during video playback & scrolling in Firefox

Hi. I am currently running Slacko Puppy 6.3.2 off of a USB drive with a 1.25GB savefile. HP Pavilion dv5 notebook with Intel Core 2 Duo@2GHz,3GB RAM and Nvidia 9600M GT. I am facing big issues during video playback w.r.t. screen tearing and video randomly pausing every few seconds and audio and vide...

If you're able to use the exFAT drive, then it must be correct. :) It does seem a bit more complicated than it needs to be. I decided to not waste any more time in trying to figure it out and use a USB card reader. Fortunately I remembered that my data card had a card slot which worked out well. Vi...

Mounting exFAT formatted SD card

I am trying to mount the card in the laptop 's internal card reader. If I run fdisk - l for a FAT32 card its listed as mmcblk0p1. But it does not work for exFAT formatted one. Following this guide I was able to mount my exFAT USB drive. I then just replaced sdc1 with mmcblk01, exact command being &q...

Thanks a lot Sailor Enceladus, bigpup and Semme for your help. Its funny in the sense I had browsed all the same articles earlier but could not get it to work. In case of exfat, I had mistakenly assumed that the guide was meant for Ubuntu based pups. And in case of setting up adb, besides incorrect ...

Getting exFAT and ADB working in Slacko Puppy.

I apologise if this is the wrong forum. I am new here and posting this from my mobile... My laptop's HDD is on the verge of dying(many bad sectors, frequent system freezes). So I am running Slacko Puppy 6.3.2 off of a USB drive. I am yet to decide whether to buy a new HDD or get a modern laptop so fo...

Re: Virtualbox for slacko 6.3

Hello, First thanks for all people that contribute to Puppy Linux community. I'm a normal user who don't know much about linux but I like to try new things so I found Slacko 5.7 some years ago and started to use it in an old computer. Now I'm using slacko 6.3, pretty good puppy, but I need to use v...
