I'm going loopy, or is it lucid? or luci??? or lupu??????
FFS what the hell is with all these similar names/builds??? How are users supposed to know what's the "official" build? A search on google for "puppy linux" gives users links to puppylinux.org, puppylinux.com, murga-linux, and more... All saturated with broken links of course... ...

Consolidation
I feel like linux is lacking updated consolidation. If you want software, its packaged with who knows how many different extensions. If you want tutorials, they're written for who knows how many distros. If you install a program, theres a myriad of combinations of locations that files go. Often time...

Puppy has mplayer which does the trick nicely. I used
Code: Select all
mplayer -ao alsa /usr/share/audio/email.wav

How do I assign a sound event for new emails in Sylpheed?
In Lucid Puppy version 2.1.8 I'm trying to assign a sound event to new emails within the Sylpheed email client. I've dug into everything I can find and cannot believe something so simple has taken over an hour of searching before making this post... In Sylpheeds preferences there's a "execute c...

Attempt to remove filter function...
Hi all, as always, thank you to the ones who provide this wonderful OS, and the packages to use with it. I have installed vmplayer as per the instructions above. The install appears to go with no problems, but when trying to run vmplayer, I get the error: sh-3.00# vmplayer process 3831: Attempt to r...

titanreign what program are you using for the screencast Recordmydesktop http://recordmydesktop.iovar.org/about.php available via gslapt. There is a gui available for it if you want, but I really didn't find it necessary, and had made a recording within about a minute of install. Really simple, and...

Nvidia 6200 xorg.conf using both dvi and crt outputs...
Here's what I've got going on this so far. I'm using an Nvidia 6200. With this xorg.conf I have it ignoring the intel onboard graphics, with full 3-D, glx, and whatever else all that stuff is... This config is allowing me to use the xinerama extension, and have one large cube for both of my screens,...

Success!
My bad man, on not posting the card model. I did post it on page 2 (my first post on this thread), but I guess it wouldn't have hurt to add it in here again on page 3. The card is a 6200. I have always had some issues with puppy still seeing and trying to config the intel onboard, so when I saw that...

Well I had been using the 100.xxxx driver until I saw one video, where the guy went throught the whole setup, and he used the 96xx driver, so I decided to give it a go, and have gotten further with it than before. Now I can access the nvidia panel, and have plenty of options, and the settings manage...

From personal experience my ati 9250 has been quite a problem. But alot of distros can use it without ati's drivers. I say this because I have only gotten ati's drivers to install and work properly on one distro, and thats PCLinuxOS.. I've never had xorg on puppy, despite trying many many times. PCL...

Virtual City?
How about putting portable apps on the usb stick along with something like MCNLive Virtual City and an image of Puppy? You'd be able to run your portable apps when on a windows box, or you can reboot it into MCN off the usb, open VirtualBox and emulate Puppy (or any other OS) off of the usb stick. h...
