Getting Plex to run
Sorry, couldn't append this to my earlier post - it was quickly locked down. Fortunately, Jooee sent me a pm with enough clues. 666philb's post http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=96398 does work but as well as ensuring the script "plex" has the correct permissions /usr/share/appl...

Installing Plex on Quirky Werewolf 64
Hi I've been trying to install Plex Media Server from here https://plex.tv/downloads using the Ubuntu 64 deb plexmediaserver_0.9.12.19.1537-f38ac80_amd64.deb. Puppy Package Manager installs this putting an icon into the multimedia part of the menu but when clicked nothing visible happens. When I che...

Some of the Acer Aspires use a really odd video chip. Look at /var/log/Xorg.0.log and see if it's using the intel driver, you'll see some reference to intel_drv.so. If so, use the package manager (Gslapt) and remove the xf86-video-intel package. Then restart X. You'll be using the frame buffer driv...

Browser display problem
I'm having a problem on my Acer Aspire ES1-512 laptop when browsing in SeaMonkey and wondered whether anyone else was experiencing it. When scrolling down a page I suddenly get an area blacked out as in the screenshot or the text poorly rendered as below the blacked out area. Pg Up followed by Pg Dn...

Downloaded the iso in Win8.1 and installed to a 7GB Fat32 partition on a usb3 flash drive using Pendrivelinux.com Universal USB Installer. Changed bios from UEFI to Legacy having disabled Fast boot and secure boot. Booted up and shut down creating an encrypted save file into the flash drive's other ...

Well to give some feedback on my own post I am typing this on the new computer using Fatdog64 700 beta2 - and liking it. The Acer Aspire ES1-512 needed the bios set to Legacy and the boot order changed. I burned a cd for Fatdog and dvds for Linux Mint 17.1 and Ubuntu 14.04.1. Only Mint allowed the t...

UEFI options for Puppy?
Hi, I'm a newish user usually using Windows7 or XP but have looked at Linux from time to time. I have Puppy Precise on a stick that I use for banking but recently tried Tahrpup and am loving it. My principal computer is an old laptop which is falling apart so I took advantage of the sales and got an...
