QEMU Error

When I run QEMU (to access the Android Emulator) it gives me the error: # Could not configure '/dev/rtc' to have a 1024 Hz timer. This is not a fatal error, but for better emulation accuracy either use a 2.6 host Linux kernel or type 'echo 1024 > /proc/sys/dev/rtc/max-user-freq' as root. socket(): A...

Karl, Thanks for all the info. I'm not sure how to find the device though. All I know is that "lsusb" sees the device (e.g. "Bus 001 Device 006: ID xxxx:yyyy"). The manufacturer's ID I get is correct. The device can also be mounted, that is, Puppy shows the icon on the desktop an...

is not the SDK excusively for Ms Windows? And if it is for Linux it may not run as root or Puppy needs to do a sfs or pet out of that one? Have you used the search engine in my link to see what others have written about their attempts to do the same? The SDK is Java so cross-platform. I have it run...

udev or kernel issue? - Android Phone connection

Can anybody help connecting an Android device to Puppy for development? (This allows the device to be connected via USB in debug mode. The Android SDK can then install apps during development directly to the device.) On Lupu 525, lsusb lists the device. I tried the udev rule provided by the manufact...

Re: ...and now the microphone?

Now lupu 525 almost recognizes everything of the eee 1215n ...but the microphone is not among those. Puppeee 4.4 rc2 recognizes the mic but lupu 525 not yet. I have exactly the same problem on my 1215N. I tried Alsamixer and installed Audacity, but no luck. So what does Puppeee 4.4 rc2 have that Lu...

Update: With the latest patch (002) for Lupu 5.1.1, it shows the increasing load while charging, when you click on the icon. So you have to click and look at the current load manually. Not good, because your system can crash due to a low battery and you didn't know. Can the battery app from Puppy 4....

Lupu battery indicator wrong on Eee PC

The battery indicator in lupu always shows 1%, even when it's 100%.
I have an Eee PC 701 with lupu 5.1.1 and latest patch update (002).
The indicator in Puppy 4.2 worked fine.

Any workarounds? Is the indicator called Conky?

Thanks.

Thanks for all the suggestions. On the 7" screen I found RSSOwl to be really good.
It requires Java, but you don't need pet packages for either. Nice and fast. The "Newspaper" view option makes it read like a web page. Lots of bells and whistles too.

Feed Reader

Is there a feed reader available for Puppy?

(I cannot use Google Reader properly on my 7" netbook screen)

Thanks.

Solved

Hello nibl Attached are copies of the three files in: /root/Choices/ROX-Filer from Puppy-4.21 Thanks CatDude, that got me the basic icons back. They are all generic document icons though except for Connect, Zip, Trash, and Lock (and the drives). Weird, eh? I'll pfix=clean as someone suggested that....

there`re commands for rxvt : fixitup, fixmenus, fixPuppyPin Thanks Karl, I have no fixitup script in Puppy 4.2.1, what does it do? perhaps also MainMenu > Desktop > Desktop icon switcher would bring up some icons. I can switch icons, they show everywhere except the desktop. the icons are listed at ...

Deskop icons disappeared

Does anyone know the reason for all desktop icons disappearing at once? This desktop degradation went in two stages though: I did receive an error about globicons being corrupted a day or two before. The icons were there, but only with generic images. Then there was a message about a pinboard(?) fil...

phpBB search

@racepres: is the newer phpBB 3.x good otherwise, apart from the search?

I have been using PunBB because it was more puppy-like in its size and speed, but it does lack features.

Software request: Latest full inkscape

Is there a current (0.47+) build of the full Inkscape anywhere, that will run on the 4.2 series (or 4.3)? I have the full 0.46 version for Puppy but it has some odd bug and crashes when using text. The old Lite versions (which are ancient at 0.36) don't have all the features I need described in vari...

If apps are using /dev/dsp I think that means they are trying to use oss, not alsa. Thanks, that sounds plausible. The program is a development environment using PyGame. Audio device sharing

Is it possible in Puppy 4.x, as in other distros(?), to let apps share the audio device? I'm getting an "unable to access /dev/dsp" when another app is using audio. I asked the developer of the app I'm using and he wrote the following: "Isn't contention for the audio device pretty muc...
