Chromium 80

Hi to all,

I downloaded Chromium 80 from the PPM,
no missing deps and it appeared in the Menu.
But it doesn't start/launch.
Then I tried to run it from Terminal.
Some text which I didn't understand
so gave up.

Has anyone got any ideas on this?
Regards

solved

Hi to lp-dolittle. Thanks for your help. Yes, pFind was useful, because it also couldn't initially find the missing pet. However, for me at least the answer was NOT to use a browser inside a container. Using WWW from the top row of icons gave a faultless download to /home/personal which is where I w...

Missing pmcputemp.pet

To Barry, Following your blog, in EasyOS, I tried downloading pmcputemp.pet to first "Personal" and then "Downloads" and after two days of searching the Home and many other directories, I can't find either of the two pets. Can you help by telling me where they are please. Also th...

A little Chromium-80 trick

Useful container sfs-downloaded Chromium-80 trick. If you want to ready-launch in Incognito mode, just quickly slide the container icon to the nearby edit icon and quickly let go of the mouse. You will see this screen; #!/bin/sh empty -f ec-chroot chromium Add this more useful command to the end of ...

The Save button

Barry, pc close down saves quickly to the save file as expected. But when the Save button on desktop is pressed, the usual yellow info box appears, saying queued and another box will later appear to show actual saving, but after a very long wait this doesn't happen?? The yellow queued box just stays...

2.3 bootup is a total disaster

Barry,
Again a kernel panic on bootup.
Am going back to using the stick with 2.2.16 on it
at least that works.

Easy OS 2.3RC feedback

To belham2, post correction

To belham2,
Sorry, in my above post, I forgot the following in this sentence:

In the lower window "Buttons", Firewall Setup will have appeared
under Virtual Keyboard and likewise in the left part of the task tray
after pressing the Apply button.

Firewall on task tray

To belham2, "P.S. Also wish there was a way to have a jwm tray icon to know the firewall is actually "Active". Call me old-fashioned, but not seeing anything always leaves me to wonder about it...." I have just done this today and it works. Menu>Desktop>JWMDesk Manager>top bar La...

Added install bootup text

To Barry, Ref my post on 7th April about strange added bootup text, and hang on bootup, I eventually found the cause. It turned out that the initial bootup coloured keyboard selector has a bug. On default bootup, if say No.5 is selected then entered no password, all this strange error text scrolls d...

writing files fails on bootup

To Barry, This is a new one and a serious one. Never had this before. What a mess. dd ok. But during mid bootup & file-writing 2.2.16 to usb (tried a 4Gb then a 16Gb), on both occasions it failed to write files twice, before advising to press and hold down the laptop on/off button to abort. So c...

2.2.12 ok

Pup 2.2.12 is working fine.
A note to Barry, Chromium sfs is still at v73,
lagging behind Buster at v79.
Methinks the sfs needs updating.
Thanks, regards.

Good comments 2.2.11-1

That was a pleasant surprise Barry, having migrated from 2.2.10 to 2.2.11-1 and thanks to the continuation of the savefile on the initial bootup, all my program preferences and settings were exactly the same as previously. The newer SeaMonkey perfoms well too. It doesn't seem to have changed the tem...

2.2.10 Re-upload 12th Feb

To Barry,

As before, no internet, no connection on hard cable ethernet.
Either this "thing" is deceiving you or you are deceiving yourself.
----------------------------------------------

At least the savefile expansion problem on EasyPup
is resolved.

Easy2.2.10 First try

To Barry, I'm having to type this in reliable Pyro read on... ok you cured the kernel panic I reported earlier, but your obsession with bluetooth which I don't have or need in my house, has resulted in standard cable ethernet not being detected in 2.2.10 presumably by Network Manager. I even uncheck...

Urgent kernel panic 2.2.9.1

To Barry,

Oh ****

Re 2.2.9.1 urgent, when booting to run in ram & disable drives mode,
screen fills & ends in kernel panic.

The only way to reset laptop is to slide out the battery.

Otherwise booting in normal mode is ok.
Please investigate.

Regards, Rodney.

Agreed - savefile expansion doesn't work

To Billtoo,

Yes I found the same,
"the option to increase the size of the save file doesn't work"

An instruction link from the flashdrive, to new
storage files created on sda seems to be broken.

Have advised Barry in an email.
Regards.
