The rt2500-cvs-k2.6.21.5.pet file alone did the trick!

Thanks tempestuous!! :)

I did an install of Puppy 2.16 before I read this and the problem is not there. On the 2.17 install, the pet file worked.

Nope, no special characters, say the essid is ABCD7 Mine is like this, 4 cap letters and a number. I tried different combinations with iwconfig caps... no caps...all the same. Caps don't matter when I try it, only 4 characters are taken either way. It is correct in the Networking wizard and the prof...

look at /etc/ra0mode and /etc/ra0wireless. There is a known problem with 2.17 and ralink, since the new versions of the rt61 and rt73 modules changed the interface name, Thanks for the quick reply. I do not have any of the files under /etc that you mentioned. I should note that this is a normal har...

Puppy 2.17 ra0 wireless - essid

I just loaded Puppy and tried the Networking wizard to configure my ralink wireless card. The network manager for wireless will not take my full essid. It reports 4 characters, rather than the five that I entered. I tried to do it manually with iwconfig, same issue. Has anyone seen this? Can someone...

OK, i need to revise the article a bit. Try adding to /etc/rc.d/rc.local..(use Rox and right click to open the file as text}; modprobe ndiswrapper Make sure that there is a blank line under that entry. Save the file, reboot. If that does not do it, then you will manually need to add your essid and W...

Hello folks. Yea, I know, I have not been around for a bit! I just did ndiswrapper with Puppy 2.02 on an Atheros based D-Link DWL-G520. iwconfig always shows no link quality, which means nothing. I am using it right now. The issue for mw was if Puppy was set up originally with a wired connection and...

Puppy needs some extra modules to install to/view a sata hard drive.

Do you know the type of sata onboard hardware that you have?

Posting the motherboard make and model or system make and model would help a lot.

Also, to run the Live CD, Thinkpads have an option on boot to detect the cdrom drive first. Consult your users manual and hit that function key, choose cdrom as the first boot device, and see if Puppy loads via the cdrom.

But MU is right on target with all his comments.

This is PCMCIA on a laptop, correct? Disregard the modules.conf message...it doesn't mean anything important. The driver...you need to use ndiswrapper to install your Windows drivers that are on the CD disk that came with the card. Just to clarify...it is working and you have an internet connection?...

From the support page; If your system is a Dell OptiPlex Gxa, Gn(+), NX1, GX1, GX1p, or G1 series system: Power on the system and when the Dell logo screen appears, press the <Ctrl> + <Alt> + <Enter> keys at the same time to enter the System Setup. Bad burn?

Did you check the md5sum of the iso image?

How did you do the burn and what speed did you burn the image at? More than 4X?

Also, if you could give some specs. on your system, that would help.

Which model of Armada do you have? I bet it has a non-vesa compliant video?

I just discussed this same problem on the Linuxcompatible forums. These old Dell systems, like the GX1, have old cdrom drives that have problems with home burned disks, especially cdrw disks. They were really made for older burning specifications and slower rated cd-r disks then you were probably us...

Did you try USB-ZIP or USB-Floppy in the bios. Standards are not, well always standard and different systems see the drive differently. This is very dependent on the bios itself.

It gives every appearance that for the last few years no one really knows whay this problem is occuring or how to fix it. Hardware, software, BIOS, bad iso, head alignment, etc. No, this means that writing iso images takes a little more care. They are not data images or just data files, which can b...
