Tahrpup 6.0.2 Bug
Hi, gang. I have an HP Pavilion zd7000 laptop running a p4 3.2ghz dual core, 1gb ram. I am using Tahrpup 6, upgraded to 6.0.2 through Puppy Package Manager. Before I update to 6.0.2 I can use the JWM tool to make the taskbar bigger, and install just about any .pet file I want to. After the update, i...

Reformatting the drive killed it, puppylinux was just a useful tool in doing that. Yes I have the same experience on a new larger once fast Flashdrive. Putting in a bootloader in MBR and the over writing the default format and layout is Very detrimental to speed of some newer very large flashdrives...

Tahrpup should auto connect if you got the wifi connection setup correct. The simple network setup tool is, well, simple. Sometimes it does not work the best. Everything is turned on when you boot? You could try using the Network Wizard. Yeah everything is turned on at boot. I wound up using the ne...

Using .2fs format for the save file is the problem. It is ext2 format that tends to get corrupted. Some of the reasons are the way Puppy shuts down. Putting pfix=fsck at the end of the kernel line, causes the save file to get a file system check and correction, before it is loaded. Putting pfix=fsc...

tahrsave_crypta_g2k.2fs could this be a factor... how does it run without a save or unencrypted one? mike Last night I went and put the pfix=fsck at the end of the vmlinuz line per bigpup and rebooted. I used it to do different things: copy files from here to there then rebooted, delete some wallpa...

kernel /vmlinuz pmedia=usbflash pfix=fsck pfix=copy pmedia=noatime pfix=fsck needs to be at the end of the kernel line. I would remove pfix=copy pmedia=noatime just to see what affect this has. A normal frugal install does not normally need those options. Puppy operates normally, from a USB flash d...

I boot using grub4dos, with the following parameters: pmedia=usbflash pfix=fsck pmedia=noatime pfix=copy Can you post the complete Grub4dos menu.lst entry that boots Tahrpup? What is pmedia=noatime? What format is the SD card? The SD card has 2 partitions: sda1, sda2. sda1=10gb ext4, boot flag sda2...

I do know puppy will eventually kill a flash device Why do you feel this is a correct statement? Flash media has a finite amount of write cycles it can handle before it can no longer use the memory cells. Since an operating system has many outputted files that are written to disk, as well as cache ...

If you have no HDD, why do you need to use grub4dos? Evidently the HP mini 1000 BIOS allows to boot directly from your USB flash drive, or it wouldn't boot at all, grub4dos or no grub4dos. As far as I know...the BIOS may allow booting from the SD card, but the BIOS still needs to know what to boot....

[SOLVED]SD card icon wont hold location on desktop
Hello all, I've had this problem with my SD Card icon never staying where I put it on my desktop. I'm running Lucid 5.2.8 w/Libre office, frugal install. My HDD has 2 partitions, and their drive icons appear wherever I put them. When I reboot they are right where I left them, but my SD Card icon is ...

I did set up my thread to be about how atheists treat us that are in between. Apatheists are one such group that are in between. Agnostics can be another. Emotional religious atheists like what I am are in between. Both theists and atheists are skeptical to my views. I am emotionally related to God...

Try this: Left click and hold on icon. Move the drive icon to the place you want it on the desktop. Right click on icon. Select edit item. Select locked. Hit OK. That should lock the drive icon to that position on desktop. Well, unfortunately that didn't work. I have noticed that the icon shows up ...
