One should not defragment drives with puppy installed. Although Windows needs it periodically, Linux in general does not (the exception might be systemd), and is usually broken by doing such. Back-ups become invaluable if borked by a defrag.

I've been partial to FF browsers. Up until the recent bash/wget/SSL3 upgrades, FF23 was my choice. Since the updates, FF27. I really have limited needs for Flash/Java, so YT using a small HTML5 YT-Player (FF add-on) fits the bill. For WP/SS needs theres a different puppy used that has also had these...

small FILES

One other metric should be included... small size files

16000 x 16384 bytes
or better yet 16000 * (RND(1024 to 65535))

small sized files are the bane of $$$ tests.

So we have been scurrying around a bit fixing security stuff. And the one thing that GNOME and CUPS seems to rely upon is GNUtls/nettle. Is it ttime for upgrading these? openssl = 1.0.1j (jay) bash = 4.3.30-1 wget = 1.16 now I see that GNUtls is 3.0.32 with nettle 2.5 Considering the slacko-5.7-np w...

A reminder here that wget 1.14 that is included in ALL of the distros in this thread needs an upgrade to version 1.16. There is a pet that will accomplish this here.

With thanks to l0wt3ch for all things done.

I found out what the culprit is...
Its adBlockEdge

Turns out that 8Geee added a Malware site blocker in ABE.

Yup its listing archive dot org as a malware site and blocks all scripting from it!

tried it, looks OK, runs OK but needs foo here for my printer.
Scanning e3ay for 2G-surf models. Maybe FreeOffice pet can go with this. 512M memory might get in the way.

OOPS: foo IS installed no need for the D/L. I forgot this point.

puppy slacko on eee-700 series

I can report that I have puppy-slacko 5.5XL up and running on an ASUS Eee model 702 (eeepc 8G). It can in fact operate on the 701, also tested. Not sure about the smallest 700-surf (2Gb SSD), and untested. One might do better using SoftOffice-freeoffice, rather than LO4.x. I let puppy drop out of X ...

After fixing Xorg, some websites do not cooperate with smaller resolutions (screen width). This is noted by not having a horizontal scrollbar. This can be fixed in Firefox (27.0.1 here, and reported in FF29 as a bug) using about:config and typing in dom. The results will have a line listing dom.disa...
