puppy linux is the one you are looking for. search the forum for a HOW TO on installing linux on a usb flash drive. puppy linux saves changes to your usb disk.

i have successfully installed puppy on my friends 1GB mp4 player without messing the players programs, mp3's and its file system.

sorry, still have trouble making a pet or pup. as im still experimenting linux, xfce and engage. im still a linux newbie but hopefully i can come up with an installer or an sfs file if everything is complete.

it would be very convenient if those LARGE programs are installed as modules rather than installed it and save it in pup_save.sfs. in that way you can save some space on your pup_save file. or if a new version arrives you can easily delete or overwrite the old one. puppy supports modules, but i thin...
