Oh very cool! I just found the pup-variants. I got the XPrecise going. A little slow compared to regular Precise. According to everything I researched, XFCE requires at least 256M of RAM and that is all I have in this old laptop. I have LxPup and Carolina 1.1 ready to go to see how they run. Thanks ...

I would like something to run on my old Acer Aspire 3000 that was new when XP hit the shelves. I would really like to get this XFCE to run to even see how it works. I tried anothe...

Went here <http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=84637> and tried their instructions, but it never booted. Do I have to force it by uninstalling ROX_filer?

What DE and WM can Precise 5.7 run?
I love how Precise 5.7 has revived my old Aspire laptop. However, I don't like the desktop environment or the window manager. I do not see JWM and ROX-Filer as being Windows9x like in any way. I would love to find a combination of DE and WM that comes close to XP which is what I had on this old lapt...

How to safely remove icons from desktop?
How do I safely remove desktop icons/links without deleting the program? In Windows XP, it's a simple matter of right-click the icon, delete, and send the desktop link to recycle. The program is still there to use, but the desktop is cleaner. Is there a way to do that in Precise Puppy and how?

Yikes! I installed Puppy, now Windows won't start.
I ran Precise on my dad's old laptop, and went through the steps to make a partition for Precise. I thought it was all good when I loaded it to the hard drive. Only problem is now Windows doesn't show up to boot up and the partitions that had Windows on it are listed as unallocated. The partitions s...

So, I'm going to have to learn everything about linux first to get it the way I want it to look, correct? There doesn't seem to be an easy way of doing anything in linux. Sorry, but I'm feeling very overwhelmed going over these forums and looking at the links posted above. I'm feeling completely los...

How to hide directories and files from users?
I have an old laptop, an Acer Aspire 3002 with XP, that was bogging at the load screen of Windows much less running anything else. I loaded Puppy Precise 5.6.1 to get it working again. It runs great now. However, there are all sorts of things I am unfamiliar with that I'd like to hide. My main quest...
