lol teddog said there would be more guys reading the project section than the beginner room that could help. many of the project goals are similar to puppy, getting a functional linux build on target machines that are not bleeding edge. So i figured lots of the inevitable mistakes I will make will h...

This is basically where I will rant and rave about my newbie problems trying to get this to work. Hopefully I can get some help and tips from you guys. Q:Why do this anyway? A:I wanted to learn, and like most I looked at the available options and through a mixture of hubris and ego I figured I could...

This is so I can use it when I go into areas with no access to electricity. I figured perhaps a Pi or a similar device (like the Begalboard or a intel atom board) would b...

gparted seems to be doing everything right, partitioned the card, fat32 and set the flag to boot. no problems, no errors, fdisk identifies it as being a bootable partition. it all seemed to be groovy, after a "heee heee shamo" was back to the keyboard. alas, my MC outburst must have angere...

I found wget to be very reliable, I use it for my not-trivial downloads.

I tend to think of it like the 357 magnum of download programs. :D

Heres a question, is DD what is going on 'under the hood' of the installers for puppy?

could I use it for say tinycore isos?

Thing is ppm is a tool for a problem that was solved with apt-get already more effectively. I don't know if I am understanding the problem correctly but this is generally what I experience with ppm. search for an app, cannot find anything or its hopelessly out of date. update the database, you never...
