You might want to give this a try.
I don't think there is a puppy equivalent of apt-get, to install things you need to search for them in the package manager, or the forum.

You can exit to prompt by pressing the keys Ctrl Alt Backspace , but I doubt rebooting instead of shutting down is going to solve your problem.
