Using the X01 or X01.5 with Audacity/PuppyLinux

The following link describes general info. for recording directly to the microphone port of a notebook, Audacity is employed, does an excellent job of detecting port/hardware settings with the necessary dependencies installed. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?search_id=1087704736&t...

Audacity recording, Cable socket issue?

Comparatively, that cable was just fine on 2 other machines, no distortion or noise. So that question on the machine I was trying to use (X01.5) is still up for grabs since I haven't opened the case to check wiring conditions. And flexing the cable at either end, twisting it a bit, didn't seem to ge...

Resolved! Patience pays off :-)

Posting my own reply , oh well 8) This won't solve every possible issue for all users but as described in my original post "something simple in the setup that I've overlooked" turned out to be the solution to recording audio from the X01.5. The problem turned out to be a combination of 2 ...

XOPuppy 2.2 using Audacity

Hello, I've got images of several flavors for the X01, from Intrepid to Puppy Precise. While some of these are outdated to the point of being unsustainable (outdated archives, user forums closed, etc.), Puppy for the X0 has current functional repositories since I've recently installed Audacity on 2 ...

.Pet assembled files

Mavrothal, yep, that's what I was inquiring about. Wanted to confirm what I thought, and the PPM would confirm whether shared libraries while direct installation doesn't necessarily, that also explains why I've been unable to locate the downloaded files since they dump when I reboot as temp. files. ...

Storage directory for downloaded .Pet files

OK (again), will be more specific. Went to the Puppy Lucid site and found what I was looking for, a fully assembled stable release of Google Chrome as a .Pet file. Did that because I was interested in sharing that download between 2 OLPC machines (XO1 and XO1.5) and typically archive .Pet files when...

Puppy Archiver Stored Files

Mavrothal, this may sound pretty basic but I was looking for the storage directory after downloading Google-Chrome, found only the configuration/settings files. Does that mean the repository downloaded files were auto-deleted? This would be useful information since I'm sharing files between at least...

Resolved Boot issues for XO1.5 with CHMOD

Did check my other posted messages, thanks for the replies. By the way, the SD cards I'm using (4 of them) are identical, same manufacturer, same format. Haven't had any issues transferring images from on to the other, but agree that could otherwise be a concern. But the older XO1 image (Xubuntu fro...

CHOWN issues for XO1.5 Boot

Further information? OK, a few further details. More specifically, I was burning a compressed XoPuppy image (using DD) by writing to a BZ2 compressed file. The 11.0+ Xubuntu system I mentioned was my desktop, unrelated to the boot issue. I was simply using an SD card adapter on my desktop to produce...

XoPuppy SD card on XO1 and XO1.5

Per the XoPuppy Linux page, I'll switch the configuration files by renaming, shouldn't be a complicated issue. On that particular topic, tho, ever have issues with booting on the XO1.5 related to CHOWN file rights? Seems that if I modify the XoPupp SD card under Xubuntu 11.0 plus the XO1.5 sometimes...

Dual Booting for XoPuppy users

Thanks Mavrothal. I've tweaked with the configuration settings but hadn't thought to simply "Swap" the setup files generated on my SD card. As I've said, that would seem to allow user settings and apps. to be interchangeable, less necessary setup and downloading required. By the way, I was...

Chromium on XO1

Mavrothal, thanks for posting this info. and the .Pet, I've been running XOpup2.2 for a while now and appreciate that it's not responsive with Chromium. Don't want to run anything media intensive, just interested in connecting with wifi using PogoPlug and GoFlex hardware for streaming. Both of them ...

OLPC Dual Boot XOPuppy?

Have Puppy Linux Rev2.2 for the XO and MUCH appreciate the support from OLPC forum persons (Mavrothal!) who assembled this software platform based on Puppy. Those same persons are likely aware of which support libraries SPECIFICALLY vary between the XO1 and XO1.5 hardware since they've designed XOPu...

OLPC XO1 software images on XO1.5?

Unless they have changed CPU arch and the like, I imagine an XO1 puplet (or puppy) could work on a later version. Unless they only included drivers for that particular machine, I can't see why a general Puppy derivative for netbooks wouldn't do the trick. But maybe I don't know what I'm talking abo...

OLPC XO1 software images on XO1.5?

Anyone know of a way to boot older XO1 images on an XO1.5? From an SD card or USB external drive, I mean. Seems simple enough, right? If hardware dependencies aren't too different, and we're not "Scaling Down" from 1.5 software architecture onto the 1.0, trying to do the opposite. Would kn...
