Not to get off topic but is there a list of those "mission critical" items that one would update when updating puppy? Other than the Kernel....

Just boot from another stick and plug in the other stick, mount it and take off all of your important stuff from the stick that no longer boots. So nice that you can have 10+ bootable USB sticks around. You can also mount the old stick and change the name of the file back. It should then boot again....

If you do need to rename a file in order to try and get something to work, create a link with a new name. This way, the old file is not touched and the link will link to the original filename.

Right click --> Link --> New Name.

I think a more interesting figure would be the number of members that have actually contributed over the years.

And those that have consistently contributed. For those that have, THANK YOU! Even though I haven't been around much lately, I know who most of you are!

It's also slow as shit but I guess that's the price you pay for end to end encryption.

Still useable and decent.

PPM2 has some significant flaws and due to the ongoing scrutiny by others, I believe the developer had enough and walked away from the project. When it refused to accept/install a puppy package, I've had to download the package, unpack and repack it to make PPM2 accept it. I wouldn't recommend its u...

Hi Don,

It would be cool if you had a default "Maximum Compression" button. I'm guessing you know which gives the max compression, of course you do.

Haven't been around much lately; hoping to change that in 2020.

All the best,

Great Job! I have a file somewhere with a bunch of additional add-ons. I'll try to get it into this thread.

Still crashes sometimes for me but I don't lose my spot so not a big deal.

I believe Libre is based on the old WordPerfect, so it should open any Wordperfect file from years past; assuming it is not corrupt, of course.

@gcav Perhaps I had a defective USB. I'll try again and see. Are you using USB2.0 or 3.0? If BarryK or anyone else familiar with WoofQ is reading this, perhaps they can point me to which line or lines create the separate partitions. Maybe limiting the 2nd partition and creating a 3rd, empty partitio...

Thank you all for the continued input. Now, if files need to be compressed to be approx an equal number of bytes, that seems to be n issue. So, I could have a directory with a text file, a large spreadsheet file, music files, video files, etc. I doubt that I could get vids and text down to similar b...

Has this been resolved? I have a script that uses ffmpeg to cut between 2 times. The only snag is that you need to watch the video in vlc or other program to determine where u want to cut it.

I guess another advantage would be more durability when you inevitably drop the thing. As SSDs do not have moving parts, in theory they should be much more durable when dropped.

So, Openssl does not write in place, so for me it almost defeats the purpose of using. I guess if you are encrypting and transferring to another drive it would be ok. Ccrypt overwrites the old file with the encrypted on, so as of right now, it seems the better option. I'll check out the others menti...

I've tested openssl to encrypt and decrypt. The problem. I'm seeing is that it keeps the unencrypted file, which if then deleted, can be undeleted.... It also seems to have an option to overwrite but for me, it looks like that method created corrupted data on my test .mp3 file. Still playing with th...

Thanks. I'm going to revisit this... Any others? So, I basically want a command line tool for encryption that is know to be very secure.
