Thanks for replies everybody. Appreciate it.

I agree with you that I can update rc.local file and make it point /root to /mnt/hda3 and so on. But I was wondering what is Puppy2 equivalent of PHOME boot parameter which was there in Puppy version 1. Or with new architecture it has been removed?

Sorry I didn't understand what you mean by root in symlink. Do you mean root=/dev/ram0 in grub config or there is symlink maintained somewhere else?

Folks, can somebody help me please? Am I doing something wrong by expecting to use whole partition as home instead of pup_save file?

Thanks GuestToo for your quick reply. I made a mistake in my first post. I am in fact using Puppy2 and I *am* using initrd.gz. So my grub lines are just as you wrote. Here I am pasting it again. title Puppy2 root (hd0,0) kernel=/boot/puppy2/vmlinuz root=/dev/ram0 PMEDIA=idehd initrd=/boot/puppy2/ini...

BTW, I looked at this thread http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.php?t=1555&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight= which is trying to do exact same thing. But they seem to be using Puppy version < 2. Also looks like BOOT params changed in version 2 and want to know if I am usi...

Unable to use whole partition as my home

Hello folks, I am trying to boot off Puppy from VFAT partition hda1 and want to use hda3 as my home. GRUB is already installed in MBR and I do have other OS on hda1 along with Puppy system files. To boot Puppy2 I have added following lines to my grub config... title Puppy2 root (hd0,0) kernel=/boot/...

You have an unhappy mix of Puppy1 & 2 settings ... and possibly files. Forget about "PFILE" and "PHOME". These are only recognised in Puppy1x. In Puppy2 you need "PMEDIA" Based on your existing grub.conf, it should be - title Puppy2 rootnoverify (hd0,4) kernel /vml...
