I agree with you that I can update rc.local file and make it point /root to /mnt/hda3 and so on. But I was wondering what is Puppy2 equivalent of PHOME boot parameter which was there in Puppy version 1. Or with new architecture it has been removed?

Sorry I didn't understand what you mean by root in symlink. Do you mean root=/dev/ram0 in grub config or there is symlink maintained somewhere else?

Folks, can somebody help me please? Am I doing something wrong by expecting to use whole partition as home instead of pup_save file?

Well, I understand that you use a file to save your data but I *want* to use partition and not file and seeking help to do that.

You have an unhappy mix of Puppy1 & 2 settings ... and possibly files. Forget about "PFILE" and "PHOME". These are only recognised in Puppy1x. In Puppy2 you need "PMEDIA" Based on your existing grub.conf, it should be - title Puppy2 rootnoverify (hd0,4) kernel /vml...
