The link is probably dead because there are more recent versions of the ca-certificates package available now. I have a .pet package in http://smokey01.com/OscarTalks As I write this the specific package is http://smokey01.com/OscarTalks/ca-certificates-2016-11-30.pet That might get updated as well...

There should be a Slacko 14.0 version of Dillo but I think the versions will often work in other Pups without problems. As for certificate warnings, I am not seeing those. Try installing the ca-certificates package from Slackware http://mirrors.slackware.com/slackware/slackware-14.0/patches/package...

If that is true there is something out of kilter with intensive farming. The Grapes of Wrath to contextualise to 1939, jobs, dignity, land. Throwing dead fish back etc, nutz. There used to be crop rotation in the middle ages (?), when a field was left to ley. i.e recover. Of course the population w...

I don't know if the PloP boot loader will do what you want, but it may be worth a look.

Mm. I'm guessing this wouldn't work on a PATA/IDE interface SSD then (used by those of us with older hardware)? Any ideas?

As Flash mentioned above, the dd command will make a raw copy of your device. dd if=/dev/sdx of=/dev/sdy This is just an example and you MUST figure out the exact sy...

The cares of life have kept me away from further progress on this project; I am posting this while on my lunch break at work ( the iMac lives at my residence). I play with Puppy Linux as a pleasurable hobby, and intend to keep it pleasant. If my slow progress causes stress or anxiety amongst my fell...

Have you enabled all obvious BIOS options? Does it suspend if you boot acpi=force ? Prior to issuing any commands, make sure the acpi d (aemon) is running. Not sure what can be done in BIOS as this is an iMac which uses some sort of EFI boot system; I don't know much about it, hence the request for...

Re: Suspend to RAM in Lucid?

... Does acpitool work from your thumb drive in a PC? I hadn't thought of that, thanks for the suggestion. I just now tried it on an HP desktop PC and it does not work, I get the same output: # acpitool -s Function Do_Suspend : could not open file : /proc/acpi/sleep. You must have write access to /...

I am not against using a different distribution, but I have limited internet bandwidth so cannot just download large iso's any old time I wish. Also, I have had best overall results using Lucid on this iMac; it does almost everything well, hooks up to internet quickly, runs fast and stable, and I am...

Suspend Lupusuper4plus to RAM in 2009 iMac desktop

I am running lupusuper4plus from a USB thumb drive on a 2009 iMac with mostly good success. I have done quite a bit of searching over the past week, trying to find a way to get this system to go to sleep (suspend) rather than doing a full shutdown. There seems to be plenty of options for laptops, bu...

@davids45 Thanks for the detailed description. When you guys ask me why the DOS partition, my reaction is .... why not? :) Art I, too, have set up several PC's with a DOS partition. Why? Because I can :P It is certainly not necessary, but it does no harm. I have booted these using Grub4Dos. Les
