My problem with USB encrypted pup-save is 100% a fault of the USB stick.
Sorry to confuse, but it only showed up on a e2fsck read/write test, the plain read test showed OK. Brand new stick as well!

I have not been able to get an encrypted pup-save on a usb stick to work. Each time it requests the password, it will not accept the answer. I thought I might have made a mistake with the original password, so reformatted the usb stick and then did another install, booted and saved again. Still the ...

I use it a lot and it has been fine (within puppy). I have used it on Ubuntu and Fedora for a long time and it works well on those too. I didn't have a problem with it on puppy, and in fact had it on a multisession puppy so that I could skype from anywhere without having to mess about with somebody ...

I couldn't resist joining in on this one! In defence of our transatlantic cousins, they gave us Frasier which was a brilliant observational comedy. I could watch it every day and not get bored with it. Aussie humour is good too. I used to really enjoy the Paul Hogan Show. I even managed to have a fl...

I tried working with an AES loop mounted filesystem, but although AES is there (for use with wireless encryption) it doesn't work with loop. If you do manage to sort it, I would be very interested. 8) Good for hard disk and usb mounted filesystems. Multisession is a different ballgame........ I have...

Interesting topic. One which I have tried to raise before. The pup001 encryption is quite weak. It uses XOR. It works but it isn't hard to get past. Lobster has identified cryptofs. It is useful in lots of ways and is worth looking at. Encrypted loopback systems might be better. This is possible wit...

itunes and Puppy
There is a gap in the market at the moment with linux and itunes. The only way to get itunes to work on linux is by buying Crossover Office ($40) I got an ipod and itunes vouchers for my birthday and as I don't use Windows at all, I can't get onto itunes to spend them! I might have to buy Crossover ...

Lobster, be careful! Some mp3 players / combined usb memory have the operating system built into the drive. The software for playing mp3's is in a hidden partition. A complete format can wipe that so you end up with a memory stick but no mp3 software. I know they are not all the same, but I thought ...

1.0.5 Xine won't play BBC radio
Might be a bug, might not, but xine in 1.0.5 doesn't play BBC radio broadcasts. It gives the following error: Error loading library: cook.so.6.0 It continues to download streaming media but stays on 4% buffering. It used to play in 1.0.4 so I guess it's a problem. I couldn't get many stations to pla...

Unfortunately a password will not keep your data safe from the eyes of others. All they need to do is put your CD in any linux or windows PC and read from the saved data folders. All your stuff will be there - readable by anyone without anything other than their file browser. I would imagine that an...

I still cannot get aes to work at all with losetup-Full. I can get xor to work, but it is really weak (it looks to me that the password is visible in the file if you view it in a text editor!). Maybe I am doing something wrong? The idea would be to create an encrypted pup00x on a usb or HD so that o...

Still not getting far. Flash, you linked me to my other post! I have ideas, but I'm really struggling. If someone could work with me who is better at scripting than me, we could possibly move it forward. I think that the way to do it is this: 1. All the identified changed files (as per the shutdown-...
