[SUCCESS] Puppy installed
Hello everyone. Thanks for all the inputs. I've finally managed to get the system up and running using puppy-opera-2.0.2 and puppy-4.1.2. For some reason if the pup*.sfs files aren't in the root directories it can't start up. I also had to unplug all my hardware, wipe the contacts with a damp cloth,...

joycesavio It's a Pentium-S 75MHZ with 64 MB RAM. That's really pushing the limits. Is there any chance of putting in more RAM? A swap file is also a necessity. Aside from Puppy 412 Barebones Retro, puppy-4.1.2-barebones-retro, for older computers. (58mb) http://412collection.co.uk/b-bones.php#bb I...

Some progress
After Reading Barry's README.txt, I managed to load the puppy_wary_5.5.sfs file. Here's what I did to get one step further: When boot fails the first time, I get dropped to the RAMFS prompt Here I run the following commands mkdir /mnt/sda6 mount -t ext2 /dev/sda6 /mnt/sda6 ln -s /mnt/sda6/wary5.5/pu...

Still no success
 Still struggling and on the verge of giving up. I tried all combinations of options as mentioned on the links above. Even tried to boot using he Win98 CD. That too failed to load which caught me by surprise since I've used that CD to install win98 previously. At my wits end. Can think of only ...

Hello, Thanks for the responses. @musher0 I believe the issue is that the system isn't booting from the CDs. (It's a Pentium-S 75MHZ with 64 MB RAM. It's an almost 15 years old configuration). Using CD I'm only able to boot a flavour of Redhat Linux 7.1 (not RHEL, but a pre-fedora-core-RHEL fork ver...

Puppy cannot find puppy_wary_5.5.sfs
Hi, I'm trying to use an old PC (Pentium-S) to boot up and see how things work out. I was unable to boot it using a CD into various puppy versions I could find and download unsuccessfully. Finally I got Redhat7.1 (pre-FC fork) and that works fine. Though I think its too heavy. Then I did a manual fr...

vpnc in Racy puppy
Eventually I managed to get it to work. Here's what I did... From this thread http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=21294 I installed the pets for libgcrypt & libgpgerror. Then I downloaded the source for vpnc and the devx.sfs for racy. Included the racy*devx.sfs to be loaded at boot ...
