USB v SSD question
I know that Puppy runs in RAM, but we usually have it installed on a USB. But how much read / write does the USB actually get? I dual boot with Ubuntu on my HD and a mini USB always plugged in with LxPup. I was just wondering if I could install Ubuntu on the USB, would I damage the USB from Ubuntu r...

Re: How do I edit Conky & how do I remove programs
Hi natgab Question 1: you can find the Conky configuration file in /root/.config/conky (note the hidden .config directory) - you could try changing the width= parameters in bargraph.lua Question 2: not sure if you want to completely remove things so as to make the .sfs smaller or just to hide thing...

How do I edit Conky & how do I remove programs
Hi PeeBee, I have been Jejy69’s LxPup on my Thinkpad X40 and wanted to try out and see what you had updated. Works great so far on both my Thinkpad R61. I have two questions, first should be easy. How do I edit the Conky file to resize the bars? I had done it before in Crunchbang but forgot how I di...

Re: passing by ....
Volhout You have explained many of the problems that effect puppy very well. I think maybe if Barry got together with two or three of the main developers and made some sort of group consensus or guideline it would help Puppy a lot. Many distros have more than one person in charge, Ubuntu may have Ma...

And after all that, no publication from distrowatch for Lxpup. it no longer useless, my progress on Gslapt, Lxde etc ... I am disgusted. Good for simplicity Linux. I'm on the verge of stopping it. Many disappointment. Lxpup is dead, long life to Simplicity! We have also put more focus on Gslapt as ...

I will downgrade wv in the next ISO, and add some basic libs. So cool, maybe the end ? :D --I do have a question. How can I adjust the frequency of the save files? It seems like it goes on all the time. I back-up my files on my SD card, so I don't need it so frequent to do back-ups. EDIT: I found t...

I'm sorry I misspoke. you just need to reinstall wv. For this, type 'wv' in Gslapt and downgrade this dependence. I attach a screen. GG for pidgin ! :D --Perfect!! Everything is working now. Abiword was able to open .DOC and .DOCX. All my other applications I use working great. Seems like you are g...

New Beta 6
Hi Jerome! Just saw your post in the morning and was happy to see a new version out . So far everything is working. Abiword / Gnumeric, Firefox, tested the GIMP SFS. I took a screenshot of VLC, tested with some Flash videos and MP4 I had. Personally, I don't miss the dock the Beta 5 had installed. I...

Yes, LX 13.01 is non-PAE. I too suffer from the non-PAE blues. I understand the Full size distros going non-PAE, but I find it weird that many of the newest Puppies made are PAE only. Did you try LX 13.01, the current stable version? It is a little bit newer kernel and applications thant LX 12.12. I...

Did you try LX 13.01, the current stable version? It is a little bit newer kernel and applications thant LX 12.12. I went back to it for now since the 13.04 beta5 was giving me trouble with Pidgin and VLC. My specs on my laptop don't seem to different from your Acer laptop. Hi Jerome, I have tried y...

---I get 50% CPU usage with Firefox playing a Youtube video at 360p. How is your Thinkpad with video, I'm thinking of bumping up to a T60/61/X60? Most people on the Thinkpad forums use Windows, so comparisons aren't the same. Some problems too, I can't get wireless connection ; failed to raise inter...

---Jerome, Beta5 does not like my Thinkpad. I had trouble again with the save file. So I did a clean wipe, and did a new install and only Firefox installed and I can't get it to save at first boot. It goes through steps and just stays in saving but never shuts down and won't reboot. I tried di...

DM was on fire!, I read your post and noticed you are using jejy69's KDE. Have you tried his full Puppy? http://lxpup.weebly.com/, has version LX 13.01 which does give you KDE4.10. He is currently working on LX 13.04, the beta is also available for testing. Here is a picture of my laptop (see my sig...
