Quirky 7 not on boot list
I've just installed Quirky 7 to a multi boot (Linux only) computer on sda7. How do I alter the Grub menu contained on sda1 so that it comes up on the startup menu? I'm using grub 2.02. I can get to it with the Terminal on sda1 and I've entered a menu entry at the bottom in 40_custom and done grub-up...

Thanks for than mikesLr, I guess its not worth the trouble of a remaster. Searching for a file on the hard drive won't write anything to it so I can just save back to the USB or re-writeable CD/DVD. (Or not save at all) Using pfix=ram is a safety precaution. The idea was just to make things easier b...

Thanks Flash and Galbi, I should have said that I just want the ability to take data from a crashed Windows system before any attempt to fix it. I've got what I want now: (Saving back to the USB drive) I can also do this with a re-writeable CD/DVD. Just two questions. Do I have to start with Puppy p...

This is intended to be used as a Windows rescue system and leave nothing on the hard disc.
Whats the best way to achieve this?

Can't boot live CD without hdd. UEFI turned off (Solved)
Using Puppy 5.2 (Also tried 4.3) Both these discs have worked in other computers. I tried to boot into memory (No hard drive present) but I get the error message: "can't access tty; job control turned off. I tried to let puppy load first without any input from me. Then I tried "Puppy pfix=...

Hi Karl, Thanks for the information. I usually use Mint whilst trying to learn more about the command line. Using Puppy seems to cause confusion because of the things that are not available. This is understandable due to the aims of Puppy. Is there a way to replicate all the available commands of a ...

I was told in a previous posting:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=85051
That a complete Bash was available in Puppy.
Although this was for version 5.3 on a different computer.

Make CD for rescue and backup
I want to make a CD to start Puppy in memory only with command line, full Bash and without internet or X.
How do I do this?
Or should I use Damn Small Linux or something else?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Puppy rescue USB for Windows
Can anyone recommend a method of making a USB external hard drive bootable with Puppy.
I would ideally want it to automatically run in memory only (Puppy prefix=ram) and not ask to save anything at shutdown.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions and replies.
