I haven't checked in here for ages. :0
I will have to download the latest image and have a play.

I have been working with arch instead, but my latest remix of arch is quite heavily puppy inspired.

If anyone gets a chance to test it, I'd really appreciate the feedback.

I've uploaded a new version of RacyPy.

The main changes are the addition of:

mupdf-1.1
mit_scheme
scala

The desktop is managed by Rox and Openbox.
Python version 3.1.5 (the update for 3.1.4).

Hi, thanks for trying it.
I think:
pacman -S lcms
Will do it .. I'll double check in a min.
To search the repo, you can type:
pacman -Ss search_string
So:
pacman -Ss lcms
Should tell you what is available.
Mark

EDIT: I think that will sort it. I have updated the README.

It's not Puppy ... although I have used Rox! I have made an image of a very simple installation of Arch with Scratch and Python3 + Pygame ready installed. If you haven't tried Arch, this may help you see what performance benefits this distribution offers. Download the .zip of the image here: arch.zi...

Well, it's not Puppy, but I have made an image of my Arch set-up available if anyone wants to have a go ... Scratch and Python3 + Pygame are ready-installed. If you haven't tried Arch before, this may help you see what performance benefits this distribution offers. Download the .zip of the image her...

@antiloquax, Did you upgrade your Arch system from soft-float to hard-float? If so did you get much of a performance boost? I hope someone with the skills eventually does a Puppy version using Arch. Yes, The hard float speeds it up a fair bit. If you run arch with some overclock and use lightweight...

Hi, my latest area of interest is Scala. I was at Manchester University and spoke to one of the lecturers about Scheme. He mentioned Scala. It looks really good. It's fully interoperable with Java, but has lots of the features of functional programming languages. Possibly the next big thing? Twitter...

I am interested in this idea. I use Arch on the Raspberry Pi and have it on my desktop (alongside Slacko).
There's a lot of things I like about Arch - these ease of updating being top of the list.
Keen to see how this project comes along.

I'm posting from a similar machine (Toshiba Tecra Pentium iii with 256mb ram). I use Racy, but Slacko (and ThinSlacko) work fine on it too.

Yes, Racy. If by old you mean ones that will run on older computers.
You need the ath9k_htc module.

Also Slacko works fine.

512mb RPi

I couldn't resist buying a 512mb RPi. It arrived within (I think) 3 days. I'm sorry I haven't been on here for a while. I have been busy with my day-job! Teaching 5 days a week this year kind of cuts into my forum time. I haven't done any proper benchmarking or anything with the new model. It works ...

Not a bug, just wanted to.mention that I have had success compiling GCC 7. This was on my old Pentium three laptop. I left it working overnight. I haven't used it yet for any serious compiling, but it seems okay. I had to install some gnu floating point things first. I now only have 256 mb of RAM on...

Here's a couple of other Scheme implementations. Gambit is quite a nice, friendly one.
These are not .pets, I'm afraid. They are .tar.gz archives.
I compiled them on Arch, so if anyone wants to give them a whirl on SAP, I'd appreciate it.

This is a really good book on Scheme which you can read free online: The Scheme Programming Language I've been learning a little bit of Scheme, and here's a screen-shot of a program that make you a list of random numbers. I like how in Scheme you don't use "for" or "while" - loop...

I've compiled mit scheme on my Pi. This took a long time (>24 hours) and I had some help from the mit-scheme devel mailing group. Mit-scheme is my preferred implementation of Scheme, so I thought it was worth taking the time to build it. You can download a tar.gz of the binaries here: mit-scheme-9.1...
