:D All's well that ends well, that's what I say.

So, as for my questions above, nevermind!

On a more serious note, thanks, jrb, this should be really useful for something I'm working on. And thank you, sunburnt, for asking about this.

OK, I've been thinking about this, and I know you know this, because I've seen you around and you make knowledgeable posts, but to clarify things a bit for those who might not speak English as a first language.... By "Shell,' do you mean no graphical environment, or just JWM or Openbox? By no t...

I agree with both of you! lol That is, I find Iron to be faster than chrome, and I don't know why. Playdayz has said something like that elsewhere, if I remember correctly. However, I am also aware that there is no difference between Chromium and the Iron project except that private browsing always ...

This is in the correct thread now. It had already been moved when I said, "Sorry, I am a dummy who doesn't pay attention to much of anything." Which, by the way, is why there has been so little response to this, because I am a dumb*** who doesn't pay attention. The stable enlightenment has...

Enlightenment desktop for Puppy

According to the news on Distrowatch, Bodhi Linux has just released with a new "Stable" e17. (!) Any chance we can get it for Puppy? Pemasu, would you consider a package for this? What about a new MacPup from runt21 with the latest, greatest new enlightened desktop? Anyone? Anyone else int...

Hope this helps.

CONGRATULATIONS!

I just read the review of Slacko 5.4 in the news section of Distrowatch, and what a great review it was. Great work, Micko1 and team! I have to admit, I agree with Jesse (the reviewer) that this is the smoothest experience I've had with Puppy so far, and I have always liked Puppy a lot more than he....

Open the console (terminal) and type in: uname -a. The response should tell you the Puppy version, followed by the kernel version.
Then you should type in: exit
This will close the terminal in the best-practice way.

What I really hated about it was that it downloaded directly from Ibiblio.org, (although I do recall seeing a .pet somewhere that did a redirect to Internode) and I nearly always find NLUUG to be my preference. Even though I'm on another continent, and even though technically they run at the same 10...

Whenever a new Puppy is released, it has taken a long time to make sure all the really important stuff that makes it a working Puppy is, well, uh, working. The original version of Lucid did not have a Quickpet, if I remember correctly, and the original release of Slacko did not have a Slickpet, if I...

There's no way to repay you for what you've already done. Thank you doesn't really cover it. But thank you is all I can say. Like most here, I use a frugal install most often. However, I have also used each of the other options except virtual machine for Puppy, and have a multisession DVD on hand for special occasions. Don't ask; there is really no reason why I keep one except that I want to. AND, I use Puppy almost exclu...

+1 on the amplifier slider. It was a help and I had forgotten about it. One of the quirks of Puppy is typically a lower volume level than those of us who grew up listening to AC/DC think appropriate. There are those who say that I lost some of my hearing back then, or so I am told. I've never heard ...
