Squeeze cow snapshow

I've read somewhere (FoxyRoxy?) that Squeeze supported COW snapshots, but this was dropped in Wheezy. One of my requirements is to run in RAM and save to disk occasionally - because I am running from a USB stick. (I run some apps that write all the time and hose the system if not running in RAM.) Ho...

Wow... Looked at the Debian Live site and it`s typical of them. What a mass of info. But as much as there is, it doesn`t clarify much. Takes a Deb. install to make a Live. There is an online builder, it`s a possibility, but again it`s not real clear how to use it. Very comprehensive, does distro, a...

HowTo install grub2 from within UPup Raring 3.9.9.2

It all started when I screwed up my USB stick with Puppy. I found an old CD-RW with LuPu and tried to re-install grub2 using PPM, but it didn't work. (BTW, I want to use grub2 as it allows booting into a LUKS partition, which is where I normally have Lubuntu installed.) So I downloaded the raring-3....

How to fix SSL CA Certificate issue

Probably a good idea to set up and configure git. In the short term: git config --global http.sslVerify false That should work. Other wise, go to the site and grab the tarball. Didn't really want to disable SSL Verification, so did a google and found this: http://derekmolloy.ie/fixing-git-and-curl-...

Looks like a good effort to get a GTK editor. I'd encourage wider panel support, especially for GTK environments. A quick google only unearthed: 1. Arch's xdg-menu , perl-based, supports twm ion3 WindowMaker fvwm2 icewm blackbox fluxbox openbox awesome from XDG stuff. KDE, Gnome, Xfce, Enlightenment...

@Karl: Thanks for the link. I didn't think of looking up the man page, as the issue seems fairly obvious. However, the man page explains the bug . Namely, that the canonical_hostname should be listed first , then aliases. Further, the man page, in the section that was quoted, even cites localhost a...

Some firmware files missing in Lupu 528

I'm running Lupu 528 and have had the same problem for a very long time. Finally, tonight I was able to spend the time to solve it. The problem is that Lupu 528 is missing the iwlwifi-6000-4.ucode and iwlwifi-6050-4.ucode firmware files. I found them on a local MEPIS 11 installation. The files worke...
