success with kde but none with cinnamon
Hello just installed cinnamon 1.6-v3 on lxpup 13.01 full. However, when I launch the desktop background comes up but no icons or anything else. I have read on the net that if I could access dconf that I could navigate to a page that has a setting to show icons. However, even though this is installed...

kde 4.10
Installed kde 4.10 in the lxpup 13.01 and it gives the following error; dbus failed to load, could you call qbus. All other desktop managers are running well with the exception of cinnamon. No worries there I would like to give kde a try though. Thanks for any help that you might be able to give. Vito

the multi-desktop puppy 13.01
Dear Mr. loukitchou; Just wanted to say thanks for putting together what must be one of the most elegant and functional puppys that I've run across and tried over the many years since I discoverred Barry K' goosee site and Puppy Linux. What progress and evolution to watch this mighty little software...

1400 powerbk linux
Yes, OS 9 was really elegant , and ran very well on that old hardware, with a few tweeks it was able to run whatever the last version of 9 was I don't remember any more. It also was able to run DVD movies without any probs. I think that it had trouble with flash because Apple would not release any m...

sound
The sound didn't work on my old 1400 - it was, afterr all the upgrades and linux, a doorstop or paperweight if you will.
Has anyone here been able to get the mouse working in vpc on mac while running puppy? I recently tried with Quirky , but alas, no success.

ethernet and wifi problems
You are soooo right. I noticed that I was unable to get Lenny or etch on ubuntu 8.0 or live lenny to find either my Ethernet or wifi. And I have to admit also that only sarge gets video, keyboard and ehternet working on the first try. However, I don't think that you can get any sound in sarge.

yaboot
BTW I noticed that folks on nubus and newer versions like the lenny live
have been using either yaboot or miboot to boot their various versions. Are you able to use those to boot your powerpup?

nubus macs
Lenny on a 1400? That must move like a snail thru jello. Now, if you could get some version of Woof or Quirky running on a 1400, that might save it from being regulated to use as a paperweight or doorstop. (thats even with the Sonnet upgrade.) Frankly, not being adeveloper myself, it is hard to see ...

Obama
The American News media has positioned Obama as some kind of messiah - a born again Jack Kennedy. He is of course neither. I am sad to say that he has also snowed most Americans into believing that his charm and good looks make him like the pope - infallible. I think that he is very good for America...

forgetting
The problem with scanning 12pages of posts is that one is apt to forget where one read what. Just 5 posts above this one it seems to have been demonstrated that vlc is having trouble working with deeper thought x2 and not the main release. OK so we will have to wait for the next installment. I didn'...

I read someone's earlier post reporting the same thing, but did not see how the problem was solved. I loaded all files including locals but the player comes up and then none of the controls will respond.

sound
Hello All Again: I fixed the sound by copying the modules folder, modprobe.conf and the modules.conf files to overwrite the deeper thought equivalents, and rebooted; now there is sound again in puppy. So I guess this is not a kernel problem as I had first thought, but some failure to config on boot ...
