Puppy plus Chrome could well be the ultimate combination for many many people.

OTOH, a hypervisor plus Chrome may well do away with the need for any OS if the user just needs to run some web apps.

back up any new pc

when i get a new pc I use Acronis or something similar to back it up to a large external drive. i do this before even turning the thing on for the first time!

if i ever sell the box to someone or want to return it, i just re-image it back to the original build.

prevent it

Although i appreciate the mental exercise of the original post, i prefer to think we can somehow avoid any sort of nuclear exchange. I believe the keys to this are education and media exposure. The big news conglomerates need to do more to expose the world to ALL the issues. The news we in the USA a...

OLPC XO

I received my 2 XO units last night. I must say that I think Puppy Linux would have been a better choice for the OS. Even with the Sugar interface replaced by a more "normal" interface, Puppy under the hood would be more responsive than the tweaked version of Fedora. Many design decisions ...

I plan to do a test in the next few days, thanks. I'm pretty sure I've read that Linux can mount Apple's HFS. I have never tried it myself, though. Why not just try it? Put a hdd from an Apple into a PC, boot Puppy and see if Puppy cam mount the fileystem. I don't think there is any chance of damage...

Can Puppy mount a (recent) Mac filesystem?

I've done a bit of searching, but the answer has not popped up yet.

Can Puppy mount a Mac (apple) filesystem? Specifically wondering about the more recent 10.x OSx stuff.

Use Puppy to rescue, automate building PCs?

Don't shoot the messenger! I'm curious about using Puppy and PXE booting to install an OS on PCs. I work for a big company that uses XP on the desktop. I'm also thinking that LanPup or something similar could be used to help "rescue" dead XP machines. If anyone has experience in this area,...

Opening the case on microclient jr?

Curiousity is bugging me to open the case on this. I have tried, but I think something will be damaged. Is there a trick to it? I wish they would have a dimm slot instead of soldered ram. 128mb ram is just a bit too tight in some cases. Ram is so inexpensive it would be nice to bump up the ram. chee...

Re: performance with minipup2.12

raffy, can you explain how you decide what to put in the reduced size .sfs file and how you create it. I am just not finding good answers in the wiki or forum.

the PhotoVu product looks well-designed and quite perfect. However, i am not willing to part with that much money.
