It's been a while since I have read this thread. I have several distros, some that use grub2 and some grub1. Using grub2 in my ubuntu install, I can pick up all grub1 and grub2 entries, and XP so I can boot into any distro I want. Exception is Puppy (frugally installed inside my Ubuntu partition), w...

Hi thanks for the response. As it turned out, when I booted from CD, Slimpup came up with the same wallpaper and apps as my lupu525. When I installed SlimPup, I changed the folder name to /Puppy. It booted up fine and looked like it was supposed to. Having fun with another neat Puppy derivative:) I ...

I am not familiar with Slimpup but did you try 'puppy pfix=ram' at bootup. Hi, I tried that and several other options, but a no go. I did install it frugally on a 2gig partition I had left over on my HD. Playing with it now. Puppy Likes to use existing Puppy files on the hard drive when booting. I ...

Problem with booting Slimpup LiveCD[Solved]
I was attempting to try out Slimpup 2.4. I booted from Live CD and noticed -- searching for Puppy Files on HD. I chose 0 (not to use files) and it still booted into my Puppy 525. I had tried Puppy Lite earlier and did not have that problem. I tried F2 key and tried some of the options there, but it ...

Hello, I tried grub4dos and it created a long list of installs. Frankly, grub 1 and 2 are much more eye appealing, and for me easier to work with. I don't think chrisbear's method works unless a full install of each Puppy version is done into separate partitions and with separate /boot/grub/menu.lst...

Hi my grub 2 experiences are as follows. ........ 2 I then went to /etc/grub.d/custom_40 and.added this. menuentry 'Puppy Boot' { search --set --fs-uuid abff01f4-2fbd-498a-bbf3-480beb990594 configfile /Puppy520/grub2.cfg } (this option boots, points and loads the grub2.cfg file above). you will nee...

Is it possible to subscribe to threads in the Puppy Forums?
If it is possible I am missing how to do it. How do I subscribe?
Thanks
Edit:
Sorry for the bandwidth. When writing a post there is a "Notify me when a reply is posted"

Okay, I currently have 525 set up frugally in its own ext 3 partition, and I have Ubuntu grub2 set up to boot it. I intend to place other Puppy installs in that same partition. Let's say 420. What is not clear to me, what do I place in my Ubu grub2 menu to go to the Puppy boot menu so that I can boo...

P.S. Is there a way to mark these threads as solved? In the Puppy Linux forum you are allowed to edit your own posts, including the subject line. For the record, I did look into it and couldn't find a way to search forum members by their email addresses. So I couldn't find your alter ego. :) Subjec...

Actually, I think I see the poster's concern. I had raised the question regarding my frugal install into a partition that was occupied by a linux os. I noticed that the linux os went through more frequent check disks at the beginning of the boot. Personally, I would not place a frugal install inside...

[Solved] Forum Help--change email address
I gave FLASH the email address. So he could send me an email to that address. If it is an old account I've forgotten about, that can be easily changed. If somebody else is using it, I doubt if there is much that can be done about it. If somebody else is using it, well, they are not really using it. ...

Forum problem-change email address--unusual[Solved]
I tried changing my email address yesterday. I changed it to another email address which I have had for a while. I received a message that it was being used by another user. Is there a way to find which user is using it? There is a possibility that I set up another account early on, and I have forgo...

re: Frugal Install 5.25 in Ubuntu partition
Frugal installs, of Puppy, are known to not shutdown cleanly, sometimes. This could be causing the check-disk. I run all of my frugal installs with the boot option pfix=fsck in the kernel line of the boot loader. kernel /puppy525/vmlinuz pmedia=atahd psubdir=puppy525 pfix=fsck This does a file syst...
