Dell XT3 and Broadcom BCM43228-my solution

Dell XT3 and Broadcom BCM43228-my solution Battle with wireless hardware Short story: I won, and I offer a possible quick and easy solution to all others fighting with proprietary cards like the BCM43228. I'm a long-time user of Linux, not a total noob, and I'm not afraid of CLI stuff. I switched co...

Been there, done that, etc. I have other things to do for now, at least until this thing makes it so I can'...

I appreciate your suggestions for installing GE, but they represent way too much time and trouble to achieve as little as I want from GE. The GE pets I mentioned are convenient, quick, easy, and give me what's necessary. No trouble with them so far. However, if someone cobbles up a GE pet specifical...

Tahr 605 and 606 Google Earth probs & solution

Hi, guys. Been using 5.7.1 for a couple of years and it's been a while since I had any issues with Puppy, BUT... I grabbed v605 and tried it. All good, but couldn't install Google Earth after half a dozen tries. Then I grabbed the 64-bit version. Same problems. Then I saw mention of PT606 in 32 and ...

Sounds good to me. I don't use Twitter or Facebook, but both would probably be good places to spread the word about Puppy.

> What can each of us do to promote Puppy? Talk to banks about providing Puppy CDs to customers. They'd want to 'brand' the CDs and/or packaging, of course, but no matter. A live CD turns any computer into a safe, dedicated banking device. Here's an article on the matter: http://voices.washingtonpos...

Precise 561 won't power off

It's a Dell Inspiron 600m laptop. Puppy 5.6.1 full install in its own partition with a swap partition. After I'd raved about Puppy for close to a year, she dug this lappie out to have me install Puppy on a dual boot with WinXP. So... of course the installation went fast and easy and everything worke...

Got them. I'll try one in a bit.

I was happy with 528 until it started doing odd things. Left it in place when I installed 543 and it's still on the boot menu. With 528 I was happy, but... All last year, Menu>Poweroff would get me a reboot. Didn't care, since I could safely turn off the box when it hit the MBR boot menu. Last week,...

5.4.3 Flash and Firefox and using 528 pets

I'm not a fan of Seamonkey. It'll do, I suppose, but I'm used to Firefox. Know where to look for everything and like that. So I ran package manager and clicked the Firefox 19 listed. It installed the 'Nightly' version of Firefox. I didn't like it. No particular reasons other than wanting a regular F...

5.4.3 possible interconnected bug

Computer is a Dell Dimension B100. Got 5.4.3, did a full install on a partition of its own. Boot/shutdown fine (5.2.8 was iffy about that). For some things, I prefer 800x600. I was doing one of those things when I tried to use Package Manager. Didn't work. The PM screen came up apparently okay, but ...
