Does a thread on persistent Netboot clients exist? If not, I can start one. That's mostly correct except that it's not so centralized. I couldn't get PXE clients to boot from the LTSP server without disabling DHCP if I recall correctly. There was a specific LTPS setting in the setup and I know I dis...

Info to share on 3rd persistent diskless Netboot success: In addition to getting Ubuntu to work with LTSP and a persistent NFS net boot, I also got Tinycore 3.5.1 and 3.7.1 to work with a persistent NFS Netboot (http://wiki.tinycorelinux.net/wiki:netbooting). It was so much easier than the Ubuntu NF...

You're welcome and your post was helpful. It takes 60-90 minutes! I missed out moving the mouse the last few times the screensaver was to kick in so I don't know for sure. I was thrilled anyway when it worked. It may be by default accessing my on board NIC which has failed and only trickling data th...

This worked for me. It was much easier than PXE and I could do it in a sitting and booted to CD. It only worked on the PC I made it with though. I used the rom o matic and chose ISO which I burned to CD. I then put the 2 needed files for each OS on my web site. The pup files were run through mknetbo...

Thanks, I recall in a mknetboot.sh script in the past I had to edit lupu-511.sfs to lupu_511.sfs. Another time I had to point to an upper case version of initrd.gz when I used a Windows-created live puppy CD. I tried combinations of the solutions but they didn't work for me. Still trying though. I u...

I tried BrowserLinux 401 and 366 v2 w/o ffx but they won't boot completely on my old and new NON-eee laptops. (I'll try w/chrome - browserlinuxCL11.iso next) They do boot on my new Desktop with no problems. Standard Puppy 511 has booted perfectly on all 3 in the past and now. I get this message: Sea...

Here's my Ubuntu svr dir path w/Puppy files. It didn't work until I put lupu-511.sfs there: /tftpboot/netboot/initrd.gz (126.4 MB made w/mknetboot.sh script) /tftpboot/netboot/lupu-511.sfs (177.9 MB - copied from CD) /tftpboot/netboot/vmlinuz (2.1 MB made w/mknetboot.sh script) vmlinuz didn't appear...

Using the script from the above Master_wrong Fri 04 Feb 2011, 06:08 post, I place the 2 resulting files on the server (along with lupu-511.sfs) and this config: label netboot menu label netboot () kernel netboot/vmlinuz append initrd=netboot/initrd.gz PDEV1=tmpfs ...and can successfully net boot pup...

Nice. Works.
I broke the MySQL component when making it more secure but then fixed it after reading your Sat 23 Oct 2010, 17:25 post. At first I didn't think I could get this going in one night but I did and it works. I did notice 3 minor things in case you want to know about them: I got this minor error message...
