Hi David, hotROXpussy is an evaluation of a different Window Manager and Taskbar while still using the ROX pinboard as the desktop. It also has a few other programs sitting on the desktop which are intended to give technical people a bit of a view under the hood, so to speak. To load it, you would r...

The login fails ... Hi edoc, Strange. saintless was able to get it. I just tried it again and it did work. Cleared cookies and retried, still worked. Then I tried doing a copy-paste of the password and it failed. Not sure if only one person can be logged in with the same userid at any one time, or ...

its been brought to my attention that samba is the prefered method of offering networking/ filesharing between other computers/ computers running other OSes. samba is really the only way to provide connectivity with the Windoze world. As I've been playing elsewhere for a while, I've just had anothe...

Whoah my friend, Slow Down a little bit please  I really appreciate the enthusiasm and positive first-look feedback - Thanks :) I think it is pretty neat too, hence the name  This may not be the right, or final solution. My intent with hotROXpussy is to show what we can do, if we look outs...

Thanks, JBV, it seems I will get it in about 10 minutes :) I guess living next-door to the server has some advantages :) BTW, it might even be possible to do the same thing or something very similar with JWM and some of the other bits from ROX. I'm just not sure. I'm also not sure how compliant JWM...

'hokay, more help required. These free hosting services are a scam. You either need to sign-up to upload, or sign-up to download and the speeds are horrid. Does anyone know of a service where I can place a 200Mb file that you can download without signing-up, or I don't need to sigg-up to put the fil...

Got the thing I wanted to show you sorted :) So this doesn't smash sickgut's host and bandwidth, I'm currently uploading to a (unknown to me) free hosting site that looks okay. Once it is up, I'll download it and see what speed is like. Guess I should have tested this service with a file that was sm...

Thanks saintless. Not sure if it will help or work. I quickly followed your suggested links, one thing led to another, and I found libgnome-menu2 in the squeeze repositories. I've grabbed it, and have taken a snapshot. I'm not game to test it right now, 'coz I really am beat. While Debian is great o...

server edition has no X environment or other things than a wicd-ncurses AAArrrrggghhhh !!!! wicd is a piece of dog excrement. As soon as I have the desktop (presentation layers) sorted, I'm jumping down a few layers to rid us of this horror. Not only is it a resource hog, it's a heap of steaming ex...

This idea is moot in the light of copy to ram users. I dont know why anyone would wanna copy to ram it takes ages and kills your available ram. I think I've worked out what this is for, or what the intention is. It's not a bad concept at heart and while most implementations are rough and don't use ...

It's late (10:20pm) and I haven't eaten yet today. Yeah, I did read one of your earlier messages sickgut but I'm 20 years older than you, don't suffer from epilepsy, and I'm probably already beyond the point of no return. I will read this page (and the bottom of the previous page) properly tomorrow,...

Anyone know of a WM that lets you add icons to the desktop background like rox does? or a filemanager for that matter? Rox being able to manage desktop icons is what stops us from moving to thunar or something else as the file manager. There doesnt seem to be anything inbetween rox and lxde that ca...

It is just me, or is there this mentality developing where it seems to be all about creating smaller file sizes to see if more can be shoveled in? This is really starting to sound like a kid in a toy store with Daddies Amex Platinum card. --no-install-recommends doesn't just impact the size, it leav...

@saintless LXDE is probably reading the menu and desktop entries I was referring to in one of my messages on the previous page. I was going to try and explain all of this, however since pussy is just going to become a mess of .squashfs' and apt-get stuff, with no layout or planning, doing so would b...

I use the patches from Aarf for auto start Rox-filer background and after the edit of xterm I have My Xterm in the debian menu and I can start Xterm from there. Hi saintless, Thanks for that. Something must have got scrambled in my /etc/menu-methods/jwm when moving it from my Windoze machine. FYI: ...

Hi guys, @sickgut - Can I start by saying that (IMHO) two or more desktops and/or multiple window managers will just be a nightmare waiting to happen. Nothing will really work properly and no-one will be able to help anyone. [rant_mode = ON] <fx:smile> I'm also a little concerned about having hundre...
